South Florida D-Lineman can picture himself in orange and blue
Few prospects have seen their stock rise as much as Floyd Boucard since the year began
Sunday, the 3-star defensive lineman at Miami (Fla.) Central, a virtual unknown just a few months ago, set an official visit to Oregon for June 21. He previously scheduled officials to Louisville (May 31), Miami (June 7) and Oklahoma (June 14). Additionally, he expects to visit Colorado this fall.
Meanwhile, Florida is in the hunt for an official, too.
According to Boucard, the Gators are likely to get one in June.
“We’re going to make it happen,” Boucard told Gators Online. “I really want to officially visit there.”
Boucard visited Florida twice this spring, and most recently was on campus a couple weeks ago. He said Sunday his communication with the Gators is consistent. Most of those conversations are with first-year defensive line coach Gerald Chatman.
Floyd Boucard thinks highly of Gators assistant Gerald Chatman
“Me and Coach Chatman talk every day. I think he’s a great man that can get me where I want to be in life,” Boucard said. “When I was there, he showed me what he can do. Talked a lot to me about what he can do with me. With my body, he can help make me a great player. He showed me technique. I was in the meeting room with the players — and I liked it. They’ve got great things going on over there. I can see myself going there and being a Gator.”
According to Boucard, he has gotten great vibes during both of his past trips to Gainesville.
“When I went over there for the first time, I didn’t have a lot of time to do a lot but the hospitality was great,” Boucard said. “Just seeing people and how they were treating me. Most of the schools just don’t show that hospitality to some of the people. Even if it’s a class of ’26, they’re going to make you feel special, make you feel at home — like you’re committed. The hospitality is one big factor for me. Every time I’ve been there, I’ve had a great time. I always come home with a smile on my face. And I always look forward to going back.”
Asked if the Gators were a legitimate contender, Bouchard replied, “Most definitely.” He added that at this time he doesn’t have any official top schools.
For Bouchard, some of his official visits will be a good distance from home. That’s by design.
“The way I’m setting up my officials, it’s really schools that are far from me,” Boucard said. “Oklahoma, that’s really far. Oregon is really far. Those are once-in-a-lifetime experiences that I want me and my family to experience.”
