On3 top-100 CB Selman Bridges has three official visits set, planning another
On300 cornerback Selman Bridges stayed busy this spring as one of the nation’s best defensive backs got a closer look at several schools in and outside the Lone Star State, several for the first time.
Bridges, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 5-ranked cornerback out of Temple (Texas) Lake Belton High School, is now bracing for a critical stretch in June that will include three official visits. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound corner will officially visit TCU first on June 8-10, followed by Arkansas (June 16-18) and Texas (June 23-25) to cap the month.
USC has also put itself in position to receive Bridges’ fourth official visit. That’s expected to be in-season or closer to the four-star defender’s decision, which should come in November or December.
TCU, Arkansas, Texas official visits set
Bridges’ official visit to TCU is tentatively planned for June 8-10 weekend.
TCU cornerbacks coach Carlton Buckels has been a staple in the On3 top-100 recruit’s recruitment dating back to last season and his connection to freshman Javeon Wilcox, a former prep teammate at Lake Belton, looms large.
“They’ve got my boy Boom, so that’s really standing out to me. He played here, so I want to give them a chance at the next level,” Bridges told On3. “They’ve been consistent. Coach Buck is always consistently hitting me up. He’s probably been here three times this spring already.”
Since Marcus Woodson and Deron Wilson arrived on the Hill, the Razorbacks have been coming strong for Bridges.
Bridges is high on not only Arkansas, but the atmosphere in Fayetteville.
“Coach Woodson is just a good dude, and he doesn’t just recruit me; he recruits my little brother, so it’s a win-win for me,” Bridges said. “He’s a good guy and I have a strong relationship with Coach Wilson. We keep building it every day.”
“I’ve seen a lot at Arkansas already,” he continued. “I see the players bonding and getting together as a team, working toward a goal.” “
I’ve seen everything there,” he said ahead of his June 16 official visit.
Bridges has made a string of visits to the Forty Acres since securing an offer from the Texas staff. Secondary coach Terry Joseph has also been a frequent visitor this spring at Lake Belton.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian made a strong impression on Bridge and his family ever since.
“Coach Sark is just a great dude,” Bridges said. “He texted me out of the blue (on Tuesday) and said, ‘What’s up, Selman? How have you been?’ He was on the way to a wedding.
“That’s different,’ he continued. “He really messes with me. We’re locked in, me and Sark are locked in. Coach Joseph and I are, too. Coach Joseph has also been out here talking to me and coaching me up. We sat down and watched some film and broke it down during my last visit, too, and that was good.”
USC trending for in-season official visit
USC has put itself in position to get one of Bridges’ final official visits, which is expected to be during the season..
The No. 69 overall player in the On300 expects to make a decision in November or December ahead of the Early Signing Period.
“They’re definitely on my mind,” Bridges said of the Trojans. “We decided to take an official visit around December and that would be more beneficial as I make a decision in November or December.”
“Coach (Lincoln) Riley is a great dude and I love coach Donte (Williams),” he added. “During my last visit, he showed me how he coaches his players. We sat in the film room and I watched him teach his player, and it looked good to me … Why not play for him?”
