— One of the most interesting names that has been on the visitor list for the Garnet & Black Game is Texas product Adrian Wilson.

Interestingly, On3’s Chad Simmons entered an RPM prediction in favor of Texas A&M this week. We had previously reported Wilson as a potential visitor for USC’s spring game and noted that, for a guy that had not even been on campus yet, there was a little buzz about the Gamecocks’ chances.

The first step: let’s make sure the visit takes place. Wilson wants to take his parents on the visit, but they may not be able to visit this weekend. Wilson may either travel by himself, or the visit could get pushed back a week.

There’s some intrigue around this former Oregon commitment and the Gamecocks, and it could get more interesting once he follows through with a trip.

— We know that the Gamecocks are looking to the transfer portal for more pass-catching options. The profile that the staff is looking for is guys with size, so we would anticipate all or almost all of the names that come up to be 6-foot-2 or above.

Justin Robinson (Mississippi State, began his career at Georgia) would have been an option here, but the rule effectively preventing SEC to SEC transfers (players would have to sit a year) seems to prohibit things from advancing in this case.

Penn State’s Keandre Lambert-Smith hails from Maury High in Virginia, a school with which the Gamecocks have plenty of familiarity. The name made sense early, but there hasn’t seemed to be much buzz here as of late. He’s visiting Auburn and Texas A&M this weekend, and On3’s Pete Nakos has noted that Colorado and Southern California are also in the mix.

The guy we have probably heard the most about it so far is Houston’s Sam Brown. The Georgia native began his career at West Virginia and we have heard there’s a family tie to Columbia. Gamecocks EDGE Kyle Kennard, who transferred in this offseason from Georgia Tech, made his case on social media this week for Brown to join the Garnet & Black. The next step is seeing if Brown will take an official visit to Columbia.

Colorado State’s Justus-Ross Simmons is visiting Syracuse this weekend, but South Carolina’s one of the programs that has been in touch. He has an impressive build at 6-foot-3, 215-pounds; last season he caught 45 passes for 724 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Kyle Ford, who played with former Gamecocks quarterback Ryan Hilinski in high school, is transferring from UCLA. He originally signed with Southern Cal, where he spent four seasons, out of high school before moving over to UCLA for the 2023 campaign.

Ford caught 22 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown last season. We are told that South Carolina has been in touch here as well. Ford told On3 that Southern Cal is actually one of his schools he’s focusing on this time around as well. In addition to the Trojans, he has Florida, Michigan, Wake Forest, Ohio State, and South Carolina under consideration.

Here’s a new name to add to the mix: Nevada’s Dalevon Campbell. The Texas product signed with Illinois out of high school but spent the past two seasons out west. Last season, he caught 31 balls for 594 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
