OT7 Dallas Week Two Recruiting Buzz
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – The second OT7 regional is taking place this weekend in Texas, and some of the top prospects in the country are participating. On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons is in attendance and he shares the latest recruiting intel on some of the top 2025 prospects:
Five-star Plus+ WR Dakorien Moore
The buzz: LSU commit Dakorien Moore is likely done with spring visits. His track schedule keeps him busy on the weekend. He was looking to get back to Ohio State this weekend, but things didn’t work out. Next up for Moore are official visits. And schools are going to work to flip Moore from LSU, but it is going to be very difficult. Each school Moore is visiting is a threat to LSU, but Oregon is the one I heard the most about over the weekend. Coach Ra’Shaad Samples being in Eugene doesn’t hurt. Moore is expected to finalize his official visit schedule in the coming weeks and he is planning to take four official visits in the summer.
5-star QB Julian Lewis
The buzz: Julian Lewis is committed to USC, but he has locked in official visits to Auburn, Colorado, Georgia and USC. Alabama doesn’t have an official visit lined up yet, but getting back to Tuscaloosa this spring has not been ruled out. Communication with five schools is ongoing there is some level of interest in each school Lewis’ list. He is looking for the right fit not only right now, but in the coming years. Stability is a factor. Getting on the field is another. Buzz around Auburn has picked up behind the scenes, but that has shifted from school to school in the last six weeks. The interest in what Hugh Freeze is doing on the Plains is real, though.
4-star WR Jaime Ffrench
The buzz: Jaime Ffrench has lined up official visits to LSU, Miami, Tennessee and Texas over the summer. He has moved his official visit to Ohio State back and is expected to visit the Buckeyes in the fall. The four-star wide receiver is down to five schools and plans to have a decision around August. The buzz has been around Ohio State since January, and that remains the same. Brian Hartline and his track record factor into that. The school right behind the Buckeyes has been changing by the visit. Texas is the most recent school Ffrench has visited and the Longhorns hold that No. 2 spot
4-star SAF Trey McNutt
The buzz: Trey McNutt is an Ohio State legacy, and this time a year ago, most expected him to end up in Columbus as a Buckeye. He still could, but the elite defender out of Cleveland is looking at each of his options. Along with Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M and USC are strong contenders. Florida and Tennessee are two SEC schools in the mix too. McNutt will be back at Oregon next weekend and he will take an official visit to Eugene in June. USC also will receive an official visit. Florida may get him back to the Swamp later this month and keep an eye on the Aggies as well.
4-star CB Jaboree Antoine
The buzz: LSU commit Jaboree Antoine is locked in with LSU. He is actively recruiting other players to play with him in Baton Rouge, but Miami is not going away. The ACC program was first to offer Antione and he does plan to take an official visit to Coral Gables. Texas and other schools are trying to stay in this race, but LSU is in a very good position to hold on here.
4-star WR Cortez Mills
The buzz: There are still numerous visits to go for Cortez Mills before he makes his decision, and it starts with unofficial visits to Florida and Oklahoma this week. He then takes his official visits in June, and heading into the final stretch, Clemson and Miami have positioned themselves the best. The relationships are strong and he likes the opportunities at each school. Sources have indicated that Miami, the school in his backyard, could be tough to beat in the end.
4-star WR Dallas Wilson
The buzz: Dallas Wilson is committed to Oregon and he is heading back to Eugene next weekend. The Ducks are recruiting Wilson like he isn’t committed and he is feeling the love. Miami is doing the same and the Hurricanes are viewed as the biggest threat. Wilson will take official visits to Oregon, Miami and Florida State. Auburn and Florida are also being considered. He really likes Junior Adams and Kevin Beard. Mike Norvell and Ron Dugans are doing a good job too.
4-star WR Adrian Wilson
The buzz: I like where Texas A&M sits for Adrian Wilson. Since the new staff took over in College Station, communication has been strong and Wilson has taken a liking to the in-state program. He really likes Homon Wiggins and the Aggies have a real shot at keeping Wilson home. The one-time Oregon commit also has his eye on Arizona State. The Sun Devils are in the mix too. He is planning to take some official visits, but Mike Elko’s program is trending.
4-star WR Vernell Brown III
The buzz: In the coming weeks, Vernell Brown III is hoping to cut is list down one final time. He has a Top 11, but that could soon change. The buzz has been around Ohio State, but don’t count those in-state schools out for the playmaker out of Orlando Jones. Florida, Florida State and Miami are still very much in this race. The wide receiver production at Ohio State does appeal to him, but staying home is something he is looking at as well. A decision is expected this summer and he is finalizing his official visit schedule this spring.
4-star CB Dawayne Galloway
The buzz: Dawayne Galloway will be back at Michigan on April 18 and it will be his first time in Ann Arbor since last fall. The Wolverines have been a school attached to Galloway for weeks, but there are others in this race too. He has official visits to Penn State and Purdue locked in and Syracuse is another school in the mix. With Michigan, he likes the new staff and he is working to lock in an official visit with the Big Ten program for June. Official visits will factor into his decision, and this one could still go a few different ways.
4-star CB Daryus Dixson
The buzz: Daryus Dixson has official visits locked in with Tennessee and Washington. He is in talks with Georgia and Penn State about an official visit on the weekend of May 18. Auburn is in this race too, and an official visit to the Plains is likely. A school with some momentum after a strong visit this spring is Tennessee. The Vols are really high on Dixson’s list heading into summer visits.
4-star CB Ben Hanks
The buzz: Miami is working to keep Ben Hanks in south Florida and the staff is doing a great job. Florida, Georgia and Louisville among others are in the mix, but Miami is in the pole position heading into spring visits. Hanks had a great visit to Louisville and the SEC program in Athens piques his interest, but the ACC program in the backyard and leading the way.
4-star SAF Anquon Fegans
The buzz: Anquon Fegans has official visits to Clemson, Georgia, Miami and LSU starting May 31. He is not set one committing after his official visits. Alabama and Auburn remain in the mix too. The buzz is around Auburn, but one source feels LSU is right there with the in-state school. His brother Trequon Fegans just entered the Transfer Portal and the talk is they want to end up at the same school.
4-star WR Taz Williams
The buzz: Taz Williams visited Michigan last weekend and the buzz heading into that trip to Ann Arbor was strong around the Wolverines. That remains the same. He had a great visit to Michigan and next up is Texas A&M. Williams will be in College Station on April 20 and the Aggies and Wolverines are battling for the top spot on his list. Based on intel I picked up over the weekend, I still lean toward Michigan as the favorite. It is close, and the decision later this summer could come down to these two programs.
4-star TE Kiotti Armstrong
The buzz: Auburn and Miami are high on Kiotti Armstrong‘s list, but this is expected to come down to Texas and Texas A&M, two in-state schools. Both programs have made him feel like a priority and this could come down to official visits to Austin and College Station in June as to who lands the Texas tight end.
4-star WR Marcus Harris
The buzz: Alabama is recruiting Marcus Harris the hardest. He knew much of the offensive staff in Tuscaloosa from their time at Washington. He was at Texas a few days ago and he will return to Oregon this coming weekend. Those two continue to be the schools with the most buzz around them.
4-star SAF Gregory Thomas
The buzz: Gregory Thomas has locked in an official visit with Clemson for May 31, and the Tigers, along with Miami are in the race, but Florida State continues to set the pace. His connection with that staff is expected to make the Seminoles hard to beat. They have been the most consistent school with Thomas, he has been there around half a dozen times and Norvell’s program is still trending.
4-star WR Koby Howard
The buzz: Florida State was once viewed as the favorite to land Koby Howard and he is planning to return to Tallahassee next weekend. He is looking to lock in an official visit with Florida State soon too. Florida and UCF are two more in-state schools in the mix. UCF has been consistent in this one. Pittsburgh is an out-of-state school in heavy communication with the Sunshine State playmaker.
3-star SAF Sael Reyes
The buzz: SMU has been a consistent here for Sael Reyes. He likes the staff, the staff makes him feel wanted, he knows some of their commitments and the Mustangs will be in this race until the end. The local program is up against schools like Miami and Texas A&M. The only official visit he has lined up is with SMU.
3-star WR Tavian McNair
The buzz: California is setting the pace with Tavian McNair. He likes the staff, the offense and he has an official visit locked in for the weekend of June 7. Arizona State is a school to watch. Utah is as well. He has official visits lined up with those school the week before and after his trip to Berkely.
