Elite recruits talk LSU spring game: ‘Place is amazing’
LSU’s spring on Saturday brought in a star-studded group of prospects, some already committed and a few others the Tigers are in great position for.
As it stands now, head coach Brian Kelly and his staff have 12 commits and On3’s No. 2 ranked recruiting class. Many of those prospects were back in Baton Rouge including class jewel, On3’s No. 1 overall 2025 prospect, Belleville (Mich.) High five-star plus quarterback Bryce Underwood.
“The trip to Baton Rouge was great,” Underwood’s father Jaquan said. “Always a great time here and soon to be Bryce’s new home. We were able to see Nuss, Ricky and Colin put in some work which was pretty good to see, just thinking next year Bryce will be in the rotation.”
LSU’s Five-Star Push Continues
Underwood hopes he’s throwing to Sachse (Texas) High five-star Kaliq Lockett. Lockett is spending the entire weekend hanging out at LSU, as the Tigers battle the likes of Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State and USC.
“Place is amazing,” Lockett said.
On3’s No. 1 cornerback DJ Pickett was back on campus. The Tigers are a front-runner alongside Miami, Oregon, Georgia, Florida and Florida State.
Coveted Defensive Linemen Give Highlights
Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson On300 edge rusher Jared Smith has been speaking highly of programs like Georgia, South Carolina and USC, and this weekend it was LSU’s turn to impress.
“The environment was great,” Smith stated. “Good to see the coaches and see how the team was gonna look.”
Smith highlighted the “development” when talking about what stands out most about the opportunity.
Things are picking up between LSU and Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central On300 edge rusher Damien Shanklin.
“It’s been amazing,” Shanklin stated. “Enjoying the time with the coaches and guys like Bryce, DJ, and Jared. It’s been an amazing time definitely. Just the culture and getting crazy amounts of love. Coach (Kevin) Peoples is recruiting me, also Coach (Blake) Baker. They’re both really good coaches and I can see myself being developed by them and also just being around them.”
Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County defensive lineman Jeramiah McCloud visited a Mississippi State commit but LSU is one of the schools trending at this point in the process.
LSU is making things interesting for Arlington (Texas) Mansfield Timberview defensive lineman Dilan Battle who came in very high on Texas A&M.
“The environment was amazing and the amount of fans definitely caught my eye,” Battle said. “I’m high on LSU because of the culture and the relationships I have on the staff I really like Coach Bo Davis, And I’m excited to get back!”
Elite 2026s Attend As Well
Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab five-star 2026 Lamar Brown, the On3 Industry’s No. 1 defensive lineman in America headlined the rising junior group that made it in.
Morton (Miss.) High’s Xavier McDonald is the country’s No. 5 receiver.
“The environment was amazing,” McDonald said. “The energy was electric and you could feel the excitement all around. What excites me the most is the legacy and the tradition at LSU, being part of a legendary program like LSU is crazy.”
Buford (Ga.) High 2026 Ben Mubenga says LSU is his early leader.
“The environment was amazing today,” Mubenga said. “Every time I go there they keep impressing me. What continues to excite me is the love and the family atmosphere they give off.”
Stay tuned to On3 and the Bengal Tiger as more reaction comes in.
