2025 CB Byron Baldwin Planning Official Visit to Kentucky
Byron Baldwin just took a visit to Kentucky earlier this month. He’s planning to be back soon.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback from Calvert Hall (Baltimore, MD) College told KSR+ that his favorite part of his recent spring visit was the hospitality. He arrived on Friday, April 5 and stayed through the spring practice on April 6.
“They showed me and my parents everything from the stadium to the indoor field,” Baldwin said. “We connected with the players a little bit. That next Saturday, I came early and met with Coach Buff [Frank Buffano]. We talked a little bit. He was trying to pick my brain.”
Baldwin also sat in several team meetings, including the safeties meeting. Then, he watched practice.
“They competed a lot at practice. I liked that,” he said. “They give the young guys a chance. They have opportunities to make plays, but they also have opportunities to mess up.”
Looking to major in finance, Baldwin checked out the finance building afterwards. He called it “amazing.”
“I haven’t seen that many [campuses], but it was astonishing for me and my parents,” Baldwin said.
Baldwin is planning to take an official visit to Kentucky this summer. That will be either June 14 or June 21.
“The safety room isn’t that deep, so they’re going to be losing a lot of people,” he said. “I want to see the people that are going to be there if I were going to go there, seeing if I can connect and click with them while I’m there. That will be one of the things I’ll be paying attention to.”
At Kentucky, Baldwin sees himself playing strong safety and rolling over the top. He’s also open to playing free safety.
“They’ve got great receivers. They’ve got a new, young quarterback,” he said. “Practice reps are going to be top-tier if I were to go there.”
More Official Visits in the Works
Byron Baldwin is closing in on the final few months of his recruitment. He’s looking to commit by August, “at the latest.” Visits are upcoming.
“Right now, my official visits are kind of weird,” he said. “I’m trying to figure out if I’m going to Kentucky on June 14 or 21. Right now, the ones that are locked are Indiana on May 31, Vanderbilt on June 7, and June 14 and 21 are going to be between Tennessee and Kentucky.”
Baldwin will be looking at his relationships with coaches and players, as well as availability on his official visits. He said he wants to have “instant chemistry” on his official visits.
“If I go into OVs and like what I see, I like what’s going on, I’ll make my commitment,” he said.
Byron Baldwin’s Game
Byron Baldwin told KSR+ in January that his greatest strengths on the field were run support, tackling, covering, aggressiveness, and IQ. Recently, he’s worked to improve his coverage skills.
“I’ve really established myself with coverage,” he said. “I can always cover, but now I’m very technical and understand all the concepts. I’ve been polishing my coverage a lot this offseason.”
Baldwin sees himself fitting in with any scheme at any school. And what does he want to let the Kentucky fans know?
“Go Big Blue,” he said.
