4-star OT Ziyare Addison raves about Florida visit: ‘They really showed out’
On Thursday, the Gators hosted one of their top targets at offensive tackle and knocked it out of the park.
In fact, an official visit is now scheduled and Florida will host again for Saturday’s Orange and Blue Game.
That prospect is 4-star Riverview (Fla.) Sumner offensive tackle Ziyare Addison.
Below, Addison explains why the Gators made such a strong impression, his first time meeting co-offensive line coach Jonathan Decoster, and much more.
One-on-one with Ziyare Addison
This was your time visiting since last season’s Tennessee game. How was your experience this time around?
“What really impressed me this time around was I felt like I was a priority for the program. I came to last year’s spring practice and they didn’t offer me yet. I was still a young guy and now I’m developed. Today, they let me know I’m a priority. They impressed me so much to the point where I just setup my OV with them today. They really showed out today.”
What is the date for your Florida official visit?
“May 31.”
I know you have a busy schedule coming up. What other official visits are coming up?
“I have five other ones setup. They are UCLA, Georgia, now Florida, Florida State, Penn State and Oregon.”
Expand on your time around the Gators’ staff. What do you like about them, and how was it meeting co-offensive line coach Jonathan Decoster?
“Oh man, coach Jon, he’s very detail oriented. It shows that he was in the league for three years; not even just with power points, but even at practice, there were the small details where you think you did a good job, but there are a few little things you didn’t do. It’s crazy how detail oriented he is compared to any other coach I’ve been around in the country.
“Coach Sale, he was with the Giants for a couple of years. They’re really building a semi-pro style program. It’s really pro-prepping and getting you ready for the league, and that’s something different compared to everywhere else I’ve been; that really impressed me. And the education speaks for itself being the No. 1 public institution in the country.”
You have a group of top-12 schools. Did UF move up within that group after today’s visit?
“No question, no question. They bumped up for sure.”
When you take a step back and dissect the Gators, what makes them a top option?
“It’s the love they’ve been showing since it opened to communicate with juniors. They pour in a lot of love and let me know week in and week out I’m a top priority for the program.
“Also, being communicative not just with me but my family as well. They text me and my family, and I know coach Sale and coach Napier talk to my parents at least once a week. Just being a program not just connecting with me but with the recruit’s family (stands out). It’s not just my decision; it’s a family decision. It’s not a four-year decision; it’s a 40-year decision. I want to make sure I get this right.”
When do you hope to cross through the finish line with a commitment?
“It will be mid-August.”
