Top-150 Georgia Edge Sets June USC Official Visit
Atlanta (GA) Washington four-star edge Kameryn Fountain is working toward a late summer commitment. Fountain saw his recruitment take off in the winter.
He’s now the No. 146 overall prospect in the On3 Industry rankings for the class of 2024. Fountain has picked up 23 offers. Fountain is thankful for every one of the offers he has.
“It’s been a blessing,” Fountain said. “Not everyone gets the recognition that I’m getting right now.”
Roy Manning from USC offered the talented rising star on Jan. 23. and he’s already decided to take an official visit to check out the Trojans. The visit was recently set for June 2-4.
“It’s a beautiful place out in California and I’ve talked to the entire coaching staff at USC,” said Fountain. “Coach (Lincoln) Riley told me I should come out and visit the campus, so that was really great. It was amazing talking to him and I’m definitely going to take an OV (official visit) there.”
Fountain also has an official visit set for Tennessee in late June.
“I’m going to Tennessee June 23-25, so I’m hoping to take more visits in June. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll finish taking my visits after the football season.”
Ideal Role on Defense
“I’d say I like to play Jack (hybrid of defensive end and linebacker) or Rover,” said Fountain. “A role with me maybe dropping back into a pocket, getting outside and moving into coverage or rushing the passer.”
Fountain’s Recruitment Soaring
Fountain’s recruitment continues to soar coming out of his Junior season, which produced 56 total tackles, 12 for loss and seven sacks. Many programs are reaching out, including USC, Texas, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Florida St., Missouri, Mississippi State, and several others.
“I am just taking it day-by-day and going through the process with my family,” Fountain said of how he has handled the increase in attention.
Evaluation from Under Armour Atlanta
“Regardless of how one labels Fountain, the consensus is that the developmental upside is there as not many his size can move the way he does. This past fall, Fountain totaled 56 tackles and eight sacks in 10 games. He also plays basketball and averages close to a double-double. Fountain debuts on 247Sports as a four-star 90 and firmly on Top247 watch. — Andrew Ivins, 247Sports director of scouting.
