Four-star CB Adonyss Currie could have an early impact for Nebraska

Nebraska hosted one of their top cornerback targets, Adonyss Currie, on Tuesday. The 6-foot-2 and 160-pound Currie has a connection with Nebraska’s defensive coordinator and has developed one with Nebraska’s secondary coach. The relationships that Currie has drove him to take a closer look at what Nebraska has to offer.

“What really went into it was my connection with Coach White,” Currie said. “Coach White is a great coach. The connection with him and talking with Coach Coop made me want to come here and see what Nebraska was about.”

Currie was able to see a spring practice on Tuesday. He wanted to see how they approached practice and what type of intensity they had on the field.

“I was looking for their mentality in how they practiced and if they took it serious, which they definitely did. It was an intense practice. They hit everything and made sure all of their guys got it.”

Some corners aren’t interested in getting physical. That’s not Currie. He is a sound tackler. There is an ability to bring him on corner blitzes as well.

“Most people look at me like a track guy, but I feel like I can do both,” Currie said. “I can tackle if I have to. Whatever they need me to do I can do it.”

Life and recruiting is keeping Adonyss Currie very busy

Currie is busy. He takes a flight and goes on a visit. When he’s at home, there is training and track. He also has his academics that he needs to care for.

“I have been to Texas A&M, and I will go back there soon,” Currie said. “I fly, and I go to track meets; I am trying to win state this year and making sure that my school is right as well.”

Currie was able to sit down with coach Rhule during his visit. The Nebraska head coach told Currie that he could come to Lincoln and play early in his career.

“His message to me was that he felt like I could make a big impact really early at Nebraska,” Currie said. “He told me that I could get better in every aspect, but an emphasis he put on was attacking the ball and picking the ball.”

The Huskers will have the first chance to host Currie for an official visit in a couple of weeks. He has three other official visits set and needs to set a date for two others.

“Nebraska is my first official visit in April,” Currie said. “I am going to Washington on June 1, Miami on June 8, and I think Texas A&M is on June 23rd. I need to find a time for Texas and Oregon.”

Currie ran a 10.52 in the 100-meter race as a sophomore. He would like to improve that time to 10.2. Currie would like to announce his decision before the start of his senior season.
