What to expect this week in Ohio State recruiting

What to expect this week in Ohio State recruiting

COLUMBUS — It is the final week of Ohio State spring practice. The Buckeyes’ six-week-long camp ends on Saturday with the annual spring game. ‘Kickoff’ for the spring game is at noon but the Buckeyes still have a ways to go before that 15th and final practice.

Along with the football aspect, there are a few recruiting loose ends Ohio State will tie up this week.

Lettermen Row lists out what to expect this week in Ohio State recruiting

Spring Game

Ohio State is set to welcome at least 40 prospects for its annual spring game. You’ll remember last year’s spring game when the Buckeyes had not one, but two commitments. Tight end Max LeBlanc and running back Sam Williams-Dixon committed to Ohio State’s 2024 class and then signed with the Buckeyes in December. Williams-Dixon will play in the spring game and LeBlanc will get to Ohio State this summer.

The Buckeyes are hosting five of their 2025 commits including five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair and five-star Plus+ cornerback Devin Sanchez. Lettermen Row certainly will roll out more content about the spring game throughout the week, but the main focus in this section for today is merely hyping it up.

Straighten Out Priorities

It’s a big week for defensive recruiting once again as the Buckeyes are set to welcome two critical linebacker targets to campus.

Four-star Galveston (Texas) Ball linebacker Jonah Williams and four-star San Diego (Calif) J Serra Catholic linebacker Madden Faraimo will be on campus this weekend. Williams will visit for the spring game while Faraimo will visit on Friday, April 12. Both prospects have been to campus before, but these are key unofficial visits.

Ohio State already has two linebackers committed to its top-ranked 2025 class in TJ Alford and Eli Lee. There’s room for one more as James Laurinaitis assembles the future of his room.

How the visits with Williams and Faraimo go will have to straighten up and align the priorities for the Buckeyes as official visits near. Ohio State has hosted prospects like Riley Pettijohn, Elijah Barnes, Jaedon Harmon and more this spring.

The Push for 2026

Right now if you head over to the Lettermen Lounge message board, you’ll notice many 2026 visitors are heading to the spring game.

This is par for the course with the spring game as the Buckeyes place a big emphasis on the next cycle since the current cycle has official visits in less than six weeks. Five-star Santa Ana (Calif) Mater Dei wide receiver and Ohio State commit Chris Henry is heading home to Ohio for the spring game but there are plenty of others in the 2026 cycle we’re going to have our eye on this week.
