LSU moves into Top 2 for a key 2025 DL target
When LSU football head coach Brian Kelly wiped the slate clean by parting ways with the defensive assistants from the 2023 class, five new hires were made.
Among the on-field coaches that joined the staff were former Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis and former Missouri edge rushers coach Kevin Peoples.
With defensive line being a need position for LSU in the 2025 recruiting cycle, the pair have handed out a number of new scholarship offers to defensive linemen around the country.
Now, one of the staff’s targets has put the Tigers in his top two.
LSU making waves with a Florida DL prospect
Monsignor Pace (Miami, Fla.) rising senior Wilnerson Telamaque is down to six teams, a list that includes LSU, Florida, Colorado, Missouri, West Virginia and Minnesota.
One week into the month of April, Telamaque has LSU and West Virginia as the teams out front, he tells On3 National Recruiting Director Chad Simmons, citing the connection with each coaching staff as what has put the program.
Here’s what Telamaque told On3 about the two schools.
West Virginia: “I visited West Virginia on Feb. 3 and that visit made a big impression on me and my family. I liked it even more than I thought I would. The campus was nice, I like how the program is fun and I see a good fit into the scheme. I have good relationships with Coach Andrew Jackson, Coach Bilal Marshall and Coach Neal Brown.”
LSU: “LSU has the No. 1 recruiting class and they are pushing for a top defensive line class too. They want to add defensive linemen and Coach Kevin Peoples and Coach Bo Davis are talking to me a lot. I talk to Coach Brian Kelly some too. Coach Peoples was recruiting me hard at Missouri, so as soon as he got to LSU, he talked to Coach Davis, and they started pushing for me.”
With Peoples picking up on Telamaque’s recruitment from his time at Missouri, and Davis and the Tigers adding to the push, an LSU official visit date is already locked in.
West Virginia will host the three-star prospect for an official visit on May 31, then LSU will bring the 6-foot-5.5, 255-pound defensive lineman to Baton Rouge for an official visit on June 14.
He will take official visits to West Virginia on May 31 and LSU on June 14. Telamaque tells On3 he plans to announce a commitment on August 1.
Telamaque is ranked by On3 as the No. 43 defensive line prospect in the 2025 class, checking in as the No. 6 defensive lineman in the Sunshine State.
LSU has 11 commitments for the 2025 class, but the Tigers have yet to reel in a defensive line commitment.
