2025 DB Ian Turey recaps SMU visit
2025 Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Summit defensive back Ian Turey was at SMU for the Junior Day earlier this year. The 6-1, 170-pound defensive back enjoyed his time around the coaching staff and the campus.
The thing that caught his eye the most was the push to embrace the opportunities at SMU on and off the field.
“I really enjoyed my visit today,” Turey told On3. “I really liked the Life After Ball speech. That’s one thing that stuck with me.”
SMU’s ability to connect players with successful businesses and supporters for life after football is a key aspect that Turey enjoyed getting a look at.
“Making connections with millionaires and billionaires,” Turey said. “You’re not going to have football for your entire life so you’re going to have to have a plan after it.”
Tulsa, Memphis, North Texas and others are involved early on in Turey’s recruitment. He’s still waiting for that first offer to play college football. He plays for Texas Threat on the 7-on-7 circuit.
SMU’s 2025 recruiting class currently sits in the Top 25 overall classes in the country, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
