USC offers 2025 Chicagoland EDGE Christopher Burgess

As part of recent group of offers in Illinois, USC has extended an offer to Chicago (Ill.) Simeon 2025 EDGE prospect Christopher Burgess.

Fegans is the No. 275 overall prospect and No. 21 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 player in Illinois.

On3 is higher on Burgess than others in the industry, ranking him as the No. 130 overall prospect. On3 also ranks him as the 13 edge prospect and No. 5 in Illinois.

The 6-foot-4, 230 pounder currently holds offers from Illinois, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Purdue, Iowa, Missouri, Tennessee and Louisville, among others. He is also receiving interest from Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio State.

Heavy Big 10 presence for Burgess

As would be expect from an elite prospect from Illinois, most of his recruitment has been filled up offers and visits from Big 10 country.

So far, Burgess has visited Illinois, Notre Dame, Michigan, Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa, and Ohio State.

It will be interesting to see what momentum, if any, USC can create with Burgess. He has previously said he would prefer to stay closer to home for college.

“I would rather stay close to home,” Burgess told Blue & Gold. “And stay close to my parent’s house. Rather than going far away to some other school.”

However, there have not been any prominent West Coast schools to offer, so USC entering his recruitment is possible to stand out to him.

Burgess holds 22 total offers. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Illinois as the favorite to land a commitment from Burgess at 38.3%. Notre Dame comes in at second with 25.4% odds.

The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
