USC RB commit Bryan Jackson talks upcoming June OV, future of Trojan football

Monday afternoon, I was able to drive just a few minutes down the road to get out to McKinney High School, the home of recent USC running back commit, Bryan Jackson. McKinney is also where you will find USC 2025 linebacker target Riley Pettijohn and 2024 safety offer Xavier Filsaime, who is committed to Florida.

The majority of my trip out to McKinney was to get some photos and video of Jackson, and to talk with him about his upcoming June 2 official visit in Los Angeles. The trip will be his fifth visit to USC and the first since he committed. He will make the trip with his whole family.

Jackson and I also talked about the future of USC football and some guys he is recruiting to join him in Los Angeles.

I asked him if there anything specific he were hoping to do or see on the visit. Because he has been four times prior, there is not much has yet to see, so this trip will really be about relaxing and just building on relationships.

“I ain’t really looking for anything different on this visit,” he said. “I want to go see a Lakers game if they get past the [Golden State] Warriors, I want to go see a game for sure if it lines up. It’s just another time to get up there and enjoy the people out there, enjoy the company. I am gonna go to the beach for sure, definitely gotta go to the beach. I’ll probably get downtown sometime, but just really just there to enjoy myself and spend some time with coach [Kiel] McDonald and coach [Lincoln] Riley.”

“Does it feel different at all since you committed?”

“It was a little bit of a weight that came out my shoulders cause you know all that commitment stuff was building up,” Jackson said. “But yeah just a just a feeling of relief really. Me and coach “Macs” (McDonald) relationship got stronger ever since I committed, just communicating every day. I mean we were already strong but we communicating more times a day since, probably three times a day on the phone every day talking about the play style of the offense, talking about the schemes, blocking schemes, really just everything.”

“Anybody you’re working on recruiting to come with you?”

“I’ve been talking to Deuce (Taylor Tatum) a little bit. You know I’m trying get my dawg Dylan Raiola up there. Nate Palmer too, talking to him a little bit and of course Riley Pettijohn, trying to get him on the Trojan squad. Just know I’m trying.”

“How do you feel about USC when they make the move to the Big 10 next year?”

“It’s definitely gonna be a challenge moving up there with them,” Jackson said. “Some bigger dudes, playing against bigger defenses, but it also comes with bigger offensive lineman for sure. Like guys from Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, they got beef up front. So it is gonna be a challenge, it’s gonna be a test, but I’m ready for it.”
