KANSAS STATE IN FINAL GROUP?

Since missing on Max Abmas to Texas and landing Tylor Perry, the Kansas State transfer hunt has been pretty quiet. We have shared that they had begun to poke around on Toledo’s Rayj Dennis and that there was social media activity connecting K-State to Kentucky transfer Daimion Collins.

While we can’t outright and unequivocally confirm that the Wildcats are chasing Collins, we know that there has been dialogue between the two sides. KSO has also learned, per sources, that he and his inner circle consider his top three (in no order) at this time to be Kansas State, TCU and LSU.

That doesn’t have to mean K-State is making a push (see Tramon Mark). But there’s more than just a little bit connecting the two sides at the moment.

NOT INVOLVED

A similar situation to Mark just happened on the football side. Kansas City metro wideout Keelan Smith made his college choice and committed to Nebraska. He follows in the footsteps of his father and former Kansas City Chief Neil Smith.

The reporting noted that the Huskers defeated Missouri and Kansas State for his services. That isn’t the case. While K-State recruited him and hosted him for a few different visits to Manhattan, they never offered the Liberty North product.

Kansas State was in favor of his length but hopes to land a bit more speed.

K-STATE EXTENSIONS

Obviously, K-State is extremely active in contract discussions with both Chris Klieman and Jerome Tang. The word on the street is that both are expected to finalize extensions with the Wildcats sooner rather than later.

It is our assumption that Klieman’s deal will be the first one to be inked.

The football program is coming off of a Big 12 championship where they knocked off undefeated TCU in Arlington via a game-winning field goal from Ty Zentner. That clinched a Sugar Bowl appearance versus Alabama in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

Likewise, the basketball program enjoyed tremendous success in just year one under Tang. After being picked to finish last league in the league, Kansas State actually tied for third and were one win away from reaching the Final Four.
