2024 3-Star Kentucky Commit Aba Selm Previews Upcoming Official Visit
Aba Selm is already committed to Kentucky, so the next step is an official visit.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound interior offensive lineman told KSR+ that he will be officially visiting Kentucky the weekend of June 9.
“Hopefully, I get a tour of the dorms,” Selm said. “I haven’t gotten to see that yet. Other than that, just being there with all the coaches and having fun.”
While Selm isn’t working to recruit any particular players to Kentucky, he’s already starting to connect with some of the incoming freshmen.
“What I’ve been doing recently is making a bond with all the other commits like Jantzen Dunn and others,” he said.
Selm, who primarily plays tackle in high school, said he has the ability to play multiple spots on the offensive line in college.
“I don’t know where they’re going to place me yet because I can stretch anywhere,” he said. “I’ve played center, tackle, and I’m practicing guard as we speak right now. [I prefer tackle] because I’ve practiced that a lot and I’ve played there most of my high school position. I’d love to play some guard too.”
Selm, who committed in February, said it was the staff that drew him to commit to UK. He’s already been to Kentucky on visits “six or seven times.”
“Talking with all of the coaches is great,” he said. “They don’t check up on you as much as other coaches do. They keep you locked in.”
Aba Selm’s Game
Three-star offensive lineman Aba Selm of Simon Kenton (K.Y.) is the nation’s No. 595 overall prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 ranks Selm as the No. 15 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class.
“I’m very mean up front,” Selm said. “I’ve got flexibility, hand work, and I’m driven.”
His ranking has steadily increased in recent updates as he continues to improve numerous areas of his game.
“I’ve been working on footwork during weekends,” Selm said. “I should be ready to go and improve from there.
In an interview with KSR+ in March, Simon Kenton offensive line coach Jason Frazier described Selm as “a monster, size-wise.”
“His athletic ability is unreal,” Frazier said. “He goes at every drill and attacks everything the way you want him to in a way to get better. I still don’t think he realizes how big and strong he is yet.”
