2026 OL Sam Greer is looking to build strong bond with Miami Hurricanes after offer

With 2026 prospects garnering interest and offers from teams throughout the country, Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban offensive tackle Sam Greer is one of the latest athletes in his class to receive an offer from the Miami Hurricanes.

The freshman offensive tackle is already listed at 6-foot-8 and 290 pounds, and his size is something Miami head coach Mario Cristobal, the Hurricanes, and a handful of Power Five programs are apparently loving about Greer early on.

“I was shocked and very excited,” Greer told CaneSport after receiving his offer from the Hurricanes. “It made me feel great. I think Miami is a very respectable and great program. From what I’ve heard and seen, I think coach Cristobal is doing great things at Miami.”

Although communication between Greer and the Miami staff is limited due to his status as an underclassman, the Ohio native says what he knows about Miami WR coach Kevin Beard, who is recruiting his school, is that he has “passion and coaching, really shows he cares.”

Despite not having met Cristobal yet, Greer is looking forward to meeting him and appreciates the fact that the Hurricanes’ head coach is a former offensive lineman himself.

“I think head coach Mario Cristobal is a great coach,” Greer said. “It’s cool that he’s a former offensive lineman like myself.”

Greer has yet to visit Coral Gables, but he intends to do so this summer as part of his efforts to develop and establish a relationship with Miami.

While Greer stated that he could see himself at Miami in the future, the freshman is in no hurry and is looking forward to enjoying his recruiting process.

“I could see myself playing at Miami, but I still have a long way to go and need to find out more about the Canes,” Greer said. “I have not visited yet, but this summer I would definitely love to visit.”

Miami, along with other teams such as Ohio State and Florida, is among the first to offer the talented 2026 prospect and is hoping to establish itself as a contender early on. Relationships will be among the most important components in Greer’s recruitment, and the Hurricanes are looking to create a good connection with the offensive lineman early on.
