Early look at midpoint Ohio State summer official visits

Early look at midpoint Ohio State summer official visits

COLUMBUS — Members of the Ohio State 2024 recruiting class have taken to social media to announce their official visits.

The Buckeyes aren’t strangers to legally promoting their commits with an assortment of graphics, GIFs and other subliminal messages.

Ohio State has 13 commits to its No. 2 recruiting class. The class only trails Georgia in the rankings and it is ahead of Alabama, Florida and Michigan inside the top five.

Lettermen Row continues its early look at official visits with one of the biggest weekends halfway through June.

Let’s take a look.

ICYMI: Early look at first two Ohio State official visit weekends

Commits Taking Shape

Ohio State is yet to have any committed prospects announce official visits for the weekend of June 16.

Though the remaining commits without an announced date are the following.

Four-star Fairburn (Ga) Langston Hughes quarterback Air NolandFour-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla) St. Thomas Aquinas running back Jordan LyleFive-star Hollywood (Fla) Chaminade-Madonna Prep wide receiver Jeremiah SmithFive-star New Haven (Ind) wide receiver Mylan GrahamFour-star Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward offensive tackle Deontae ArmstrongFour-star Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward IOL Devontae Armstrong

The only committed prospect that has his official visit scheduled after the first two weekends of June is four-star Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy linebacker Payton Pierce. His visit is for the final weekend of June.

While the commits don’t have their visits announced, there are already a number of talented targets with their visits announced for the weekend of June 16.

Plenty of Targets

Ohio State is bringing some serious firepower for the June 16 weekend with announced visitors already.

Five-star Buford (Ga) safety KJ BoldenFive-star Washington D.C. Collegiate Friendship Academy EDGE Dylan StewartFive-star Sarasota (Fla) Riverview cornerback Charles Lester IIIFive-star Jefferson (Ga) linebacker Sammy BrownFour-star Santa Ana (Calif) Mater Dei cornerback Zabien BrownFour-star Hoschton (Ga) Mill Creek EDGE KingJoseph EdwardsFour-star Bradenton (Fla) IMG Academy safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell

There is a good mix of regional diversity in this visitor list so far with three Georgia prospects leading the way.

Now, of the committed prospects with unannounced official visits, which ideally makes the most sense to visit?

My opinion drifts toward Jordan Lyle and Air Noland, and perhaps Jeremiah Smith.

There are seven defensive targets on campus and the offensive balance mixed with recruiting trail clout could bode well with the three aforementioned commits.

As a quarterback, Noland is naturally in a leadership role. Lyle has the vibe and reputation to peer-recruit targets as necessary. And until he signs his letter of intent with Ohio State, every program in the country will try to flip Jeremiah Smith — having someone like that visit any time doesn’t hurt.
