WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We have an in-depth update with one of this weekend’s portal visitors, Larry Nixon III,and his linebackers coach at North Texas. Miami is in a good spot to land him, so don’t miss that.

And we have another Miami visitor that’s set up his date. CaneSport confirmed with JUCO standout Connor Gilbreath that he’ll be visiting Miami the final weekend of the month. He played tight end as a freshman this year but is being recruited as an offensive lineman. He’d enroll in December if he picks UM. So don’t miss that news.

Plus we have your post-spring ranking of the top 10 players on Miami’s defense with why each player made the list, and an analysis of Miami’s post-spring top position group on offense – it might just surprise you.

This morning we also start a new series. CaneSport is breaking down the top 50 post-spring players on the Miami roster, a list that doesn’t include any post-spring roster additions. Today we start with No. 50, Thomas Gore. And, spoiler alert, guys that didn’t make the top 50 included LB Chase Smith, DE Chantz Williams, WR Mike Redding, OL Laurance Seymore, S Brian Balom, DE Cyrus Moss and a host of true freshmen (but not all of them).

In recruiting?

Miami linebackers coach Derek Nicholson hit the northeast recruiting trail hard Wednesday, handing out more than half a dozen offers to prospects including Gaithersburg (Md.) Quince Orchard 2025 four-star running back Iverson Howard after stopping by his school Wednesday morning.

Plus Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban 2026 cornerback Elbert Hill picked up a Miami offer Friday following receivers coach Kevin Beard’s visit to his high school late last week, becoming the second program to offer the freshman defensive back. He shares his thoughts.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

TWEETS OF THE DAY

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

8 or 9 wins … Posted by OakCane

And Mario’s recruiting really takes off. Recruits and transfers will be pouring in if they see 8 or 9 wins. NIL will be a factor of course, but the biggest barrier holding this program back is not showing any improvement in the win column. This may be obvious to most, but it’s the truth. Win 8 or 9 games this yr, and the bus takes off. Gotta get it done Mario!

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“100% taking a (Miami) visit the 27th – should give me more of a solid answer there.”

Butte College TE Connor Gilbreath, looking ahead to his Miami visit (he’s being recruited for OL)
