Notre Dame coaches on the road: Irish to check in on elite SEC commit
The Notre Dame staff is continuing to raid the South this week. We expect the Irish to have one coach in North Carolina, one in Georgia, one in Tennessee, a couple in Florida and three in Texas on Wednesday. The staff is prioritizing talent from SEC country.
Here’s where the Fighting Irish staff is expected to be Wednesday, according to Blue & Gold sources:
— Notre Dame has its quarterback commit in the 2024 class from CJ Carr, which has allowed position coach Gino Guidugli to dive deep into the 2025 cycle and even start looking at some 2026 prospects. Guidugli was in Georgia Tuesday and will remain in the Peach State Wednesday.
We’re expecting Guidugli to evaluate Carrollton (Ga.) High’s Julian Lewis, who may be the top signal-caller in the 2026 class. Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Texas and many others have already offered him. Guidugli is also expected at Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County to check in on 2025 quarterback Antwann Hill, who the Irish offered earlier this year. Hill is considered a long shot, but Notre Dame is keeping tabs on him.
— Irish offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Gerad Parker is expected in North Carolina and will make it to Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic to check in on Jack Larsen. The four-star class of 2024 tight end committed to Notre Dame last summer.
— There’s been little buzz about Notre Dame and Decatur (Texas) High 2024 running back Nathaniel Palmer, but the Irish are still in the hunt for him. Running backs coach Deland McCullough is expected to stop by Palmer’s high school Wednesday. It’ll be interesting to see if Palmer sets up an official visit with Notre Dame for June. The Irish offered Palmer last spring, but he’s yet to visit campus.
— Notre Dame receivers coach Chansi Stuckey will also be making the rounds in the Lone Star State. I’m told he will drop by Lucas (Tevas) Lovejoy to inquire about 2024 four-star wideout Parker Livingstone. The Irish have yet to offer him, and it would be very interesting if they do. Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Arkansas and South Carolina make up his current top-five schools list.
Stuckey is already after Livingstone’s teammate — 2025 four-star receiver Daylan McCutcheon. A “bump rule” is in place for the spring evaluation period, but Stuckey will also check in on McCutcheon, considering NCAA rules.
From what we gather, Stuckey is also planning a trip to Crandall (Texas) High and will inquire about 6-4, 200-pound receiver Joshua Smith.
— Irish offensive line coach Joe Rudolph is expected out in Iowa for Logan (Iowa) Magnolia 2024 offensive lineman Grant Brix, who visited campus for the Blue-Gold Game in April. We included Brix in our mock class article Monday.
— Moving over to the other side of the ball, defensive line coach Al Washington is expected in the Sunshine State to check in on Sean Sevillano out of Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International Wednesday. We haven’t gotten the sense that Sevillano is a name to keep a close eye on, but the three-star prospect did visit Notre Dame this spring and holds an offer from the Irish.
— Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden will see a few intriguing prospects in Texas. It’s our understanding that he’ll inquire about Aledo (Texas) High class of 2024 linebacker and TCU commit Davhon Keys. Notre Dame has not offered Keys yet.
Golden is also expected to check in on the following 2025 linebacker recruits: McKinney (Texas) High’s Riley Pettijohn, Lancaster (Texas) High’s Ke’Breion Winston, Dallas South Oak Cliff’s Kelvion Riggins and Dallas Skyline’s Elijah Barnes. The latter two prospects hold offers from Notre Dame.
— Irish cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens will make it to the Volunteer State for Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy 2024 cornerback and Tennessee commit Kaleb Beasley. The four-star talent picked Tennessee over Notre Dame last fall, but the staff is not giving up on Beasley, who plans to get to South Bend this summer.
— Notre Dame safeties coach Chris O’Leary will make the rounds in the Tampa, Fla. area, as he did on Tuesday.
— Special teams coordinator Marty Biagi is in Hawaii for area recruiting this week. Previous Notre Dame special teams coordinators Brian Mason and Brian Polian also claimed Hawaii as part of their recruiting territory.
