Portal big man Ze’Rik Onyema making official visit to Texas
UTEP transfer power forward Ze’Rik Onyema has arrived in Austin to begin his official visit to the University of Texas.
The 6-foot-8, 230-pound long-armed and explosive forward is coming off an official visit to Vanderbilt with Jerry Stackhouse pushing for a commitment.
Onyema signed with UTEP as part of the 2020 recruiting class. A class signed by then Miners head coach Rodney Terry.
When Onyema announced he was going in the portal April 18, the Longhorns immediately popped up as a possibility for the quickly developing paint presence due to the connections to Terry.
Texas has since been aided by the return of Dylan Disu and Virginia transfer center Kadin Shedrick, but the addition of Onyema would be big for the Horns. Onyema would be a near perfect third big, and also has two years to play.
