San Diego State transfer OT Josh Simmons commits to Ohio State
COLUMBUS — Ohio State has its transfer offensive tackle. Former San Diego State right tackle Josh Simmons committed to the Buckeyes Sunday evening.
The Buckeyes had been searching for tackle help in the current transfer window, which spans from April 15 to April 30, after a shaky spring season. Zen Michalski and Tegra Tshabola have been competing for the starting right tackle job this offseason. But, now, it appears Simmons will be in the mix, too.
“First off I would like to thank every school that reached out and gave me an opportunity to play at their respective program,” he wrote on social media, “with that being said, I will be furthering my academic and football career at The Ohio State University.”
As a redshirt freshman, Simmons played 799 offensive snaps last season as the Aztecs’ starting right tackle, according to Pro Football Focus.
