LSU WBB set to host All-American transfer portal target

LSU is hosting another huge visitor this weekend as Aneesah Morrow will make her way to Baton Rouge Thursday night, a source confirms to The Bengal Tiger. Morrow released her top three last week including LSU, South Carolina, and USC. The Chicago native took a visit to Southern Cal last weekend and now will visit the national champs in Baton Rouge.

The DePaul transfer forward averaged 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, earning her a spot on the AP All-American third team. ESPN has her ranked as the No. 2 player in the transfer portal, while 247Sports has Morrow as the No. 1 player available.

Morrow still has two more years of eligibility after playing just two years at DePaul. As a freshman, Morrow averaged 21.9 points and 13.8 rebounds before her usage rate skyrocketed in her sophomore campaign this past year. Morrow had a usage percentage of 37.6 percent. For context, Reese had a 29.5 usage percentage and Caitlin Clark was at 36.4.

It’s no secret the Tigers are swinging big in the transfer portal. Coming off of a national championship and with a large group of returners from that team, the hope for Kim Mulkey is to reload and possibly upgrade through the portal. Mulkey has clearly had plenty of success with transfers as five of the Tigers eight top players in minutes plates were transfers from other DI programs, including Angel Reese, Alexis Morris, and LaDahzia Williams

With Morris and Williams drafted into the WNBA, the Tigers are actively in the market for a guard and a forward, hoping to fill those holes, while also acknowledging the fact they have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country coming in.

“The transfer portal affects everybody, good, bad, decisions that are made,” Mulkey said after reaching the Elite Eight this year. “It’s here to stay, whether we like it or not. But that has helped us reach this point. We’ve got nine new pieces including freshmen that have helped us jump-start this program fast.”

Stay tuned to Bengal Tiger for the latest basketball recruiting news.
