3-star DL TJ Lindsey working on figuring out remainder of official visits
Things are really starting to pickup on the recruiting trail for Bryant (Ark.three-star defensive lineman TJ Lindsey. Following another trip to Notre Dame last weekend and an upcoming visit to Oregon, Lindsey is trying to get a feel on where he’ll take his official visits over the summer.
While Texas and Texas A&M are the only two schools Lindsey’s set official visits with so far, several other programs are staying in the mix to add to that list. He’s hoping to have that list set by the time June rolls around.
“Schools that are making me feel very important are Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Auburn, Miami and a few others,” Lindsey told On3. “I hear from them almost every day. Those schools have different coaches hitting me up and texting me every couple of days.
“It may not be the same coach every day, but I hear from those schools daily. They have a variety of coaches recruiting me and that means a lot.”
The trip to South Bend last weekend was the second for Lindsey. He visited Notre Dame last July and said that the Fighting Irish have nice coaches and a great history.
Lindsey’s upcoming trip to Oregon for the Ducks’ spring game will be his first to Eugene and one he’s been waiting to take.
“Oregon is a school I’m ready to see,” Lindsey said. “I talk to Coach (Tony) Tuioti a lot and many of their recruiting coaches talk with me too. I want to talk with Coach (Dan) Lanning this weekend. He is someone I want to spend time with.”
Texas, Texas A&M staying heavily involved with Lindsey
Lindsey announced earlier this month announced that he’ll be heading to the Lone Star State for the two official visits he knows of so far.
Lindsey’s been a frequent visitor at Texas A&M this year with three trips to campus. Two of this trips came over the spring as he was in town on March 31 and returned for the Aggies’ spring game on April 15.
“College Station is a place I can definitely see myself living in, reminds me a lot of home (Little Rock),” Lindsey said of Texas A&M earlier this month. “It’s a city, but it’s not too overpopulated. The school is known for top D-linemen, and I love the way Coach Robinson and Coach Price coach the guys. They develop well, and the Texas A&M degree holds heavy weight. The Aggie network is something I love, and me and Coach Fisher also have a great relationship.”
He’ll head to Texas A&M on June 16 and Texas on June 23. Bo Davis at Texas and Texas A&M’s Elijah Robinson and Terry Price are three of the biggest reason’s why Lindsey plans to head back to each for an official.
““I really love the vibe and being in Austin,” Lindsey added on about Texas. “Great city, lots to do, and University of Texas is a big academic and football school. They have amazing tradition. I love talking all the coaches, especially Coach Sark and Coach Bo Davis. He is what really stands out to me.”
In-state Razorbacks continue to make a push
Lindsey hasn’t visited as many schools as much as Arkansas. He’s been to Fayetteville five times with his last trip to campus on March 16.
Lindsey’s ranked as the No. 6 player in the state and said that the Razorbacks’ have made him a priority since they extended him an offer. He noted that the Razorbacks’ coaching staffs have steadily been after him for some time now.
“Every time I’m there, they make sure I am comfortable and know about the opportunities for me if I stay home,” Lindsey said. “They want me to stay in state, and represent Arkansas and they use that to recruit me.
“It would be nice to be close to family, but location is not a big deal for me. My connection with Coach Adams is strong and I like what coach Sam Pittman is building there.”
