4-star offensive tackle Jac’Qawn McRoy locks in 4 official visits
Clay-Chalkville four-star offensive tackle Jac’Qawn McRoy is the No. 1 offensive lineman in the state of Alabama in the 2024 class.
But the big man appears set to attend college out of state.
McRoy, who is ranked the No. 14 offensive tackle in the country, has locked in four official visits and each is to an out-of-state school.
“I’m visiting Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oregon,” he said.
McRoy is set to visit Ole Miss June 2-4, Arkansas June 9-11, Kentucky June 16-18 and Oregon June 23-25.
Communication lacking between Auburn-McRoy
Auburn at one point appeared to be a contender in his recruitment, but the Tigers apparently have backed off.
McRoy said he hasn’t communicated with Auburn at all lately.
“That’s fine,” he said. “I’m not going to recruit schools to recruit me.”
McRoy has plenty of options, including his top four of Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oregon. And he’s obviously fine with attending college out of state.
“Personally, I feel like I’ve worked too hard to stay in the state,” he said. “
Oregon team to beat?
Oregon currently holds a sizable lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). The Ducks have an 83.4% chance of landing McRoy, followed by Kentucky (4.7%), Arkansas (4%) and Ole Miss (2.7%).
McRoy visited Oregon on April 15 and since has picked up a prediction for the Ducks.
“The facilities were the best I’ve ever seen,” McRoy told ScoopDuck. “I really enjoyed getting to know coach (A’lique) Terry. He’s young and easy to relate to. He likes me a lot at offensive tackle and they need tackles to that’s very appealing.
“My mom and my two sisters came with me. They liked it too. My mom liked it but said it was a little far from home. But she’s okay with the distance and is going to let me make my own decision. She’s just wanting to make sure I don’t mess up and pick some crazy school for a bad reason.

“Well since the 8th-9th grade, I loved Oregon. It was my dream school. But they didn’t offer any kids where I’m from so I never really imagined playing for them. When coach (Adrian) Klemm came down and offered me (before he left for NE) it got me super excited. I thought he’d stay but I could see why he went back to the NFL. I really like Terry a lot too though so it’s still all good. Coach Cutter (Leftwich) is funny too, I love that guy.”
McRoy, who is listed at 6-foot-8 and 340 pounds, is ranked the No. 179 overall recruit in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, an industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
