Ole Miss offers 2024 four-star combo guard Jared Harris
Ole Miss and head coach Chris Beard picked up its second NCAA Transfer Portal commitment on Monday. Arizona State point guard Austin Nunez announced his commitment to the Rebels, joining Georgetown small forward Brandon Murray in the 2023 class. Later in the evening, Beard and Ole Miss extended an offer to 2024 Silsbee (Tex.) combo guard Jared Harris.
Harris, the 69th overall prospect and 3rd-ranked player in the Lone Star State, announced the offer from new assistant Wes Flanigan on Twitter.
The 6-foot-3, 160 pound prospect also holds notable offers from the likes of Oklahoma, Kansas, Houston, Kansas State, Auburn, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, LSU, Oklahoma State, TCU, Alabama and Texas Tech, among others.
Harris and the Tigers finished last season with a 32-7 record. Its 2022-2023 campaign ended with a loss to Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy in the UIL 4A State Championship game. In 29 games, Harris averaged 18.4 points, four rebounds and two steals per game. He has already eclipsed 1,000 career points.
Ole Miss does not currently have a commit in its 2024 class. But Jared Harris has a relationship with multiple staffers at Ole Miss.
Beard previously recruited Harris while he was the coach at Texas and Flanigan recruited him when he was at Auburn. Names like Five-Star Plus+ Liam McNeeley, four-star power forward Donnie Freeman have already taken notice and four-star small forward Rakease Passmore are also on the Rebels’ radar in this cycle.
