On3 top-50 DL Joseph Jonah-Ajonye ready for his first Oregon visit

On3 top-50 DL Joseph Jonah-Ajonye ready for his first Oregon visit

Oregon will be the hottest ticket in the country this Saturday for spring games on the final weekend of April as a deep group of elite recruits are expected in to fill out Autzen Stadium.

Among the notable recruits headed out West to Eugene include On3 top-50 teammates from the Houston area: DL Joseph Jonah-Ajonye and LB Justin Williams.

The Ducks are already trending on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Williams, the No. 1-ranked linebacker in the country in the On300 for 2024, who has made a handful of visits to Oregon dating back to last fall. Oregon gets Williams back on campus this weekend after both Alabama and Georgia have asserted themselves into play with the top-25 recruit.

While Williams is making his way back to Eugene, it marks the first visit to town for his teammate Jonah-Ajonye, the No. 6-ranked defensive lineman in the country — also from Conroe (Texas) Oak Ridge High School — and he’s heard good reviews already.

“Oregon has really been trying to get me up there up with my teammate to watch the spring game and enjoy Oregon,” Jonah-Ajonye told On3.

“I love what they did with Kayvon Thibodeaux,” he continued, on the recent first-rounder to come out of Oregon. “I love how they developed him, and if they can do the same with me to make me better than Kayvon … (DL) Coach (Tony) Tuioti is a great coach and I talk to him almost every day. He always checks on me mentally and physically, see if I’m working out and still grinding, and Coach T-Dubbs is always checking on me.”

Florida State trending for an official visit

This spring, Jonah-Ajonye has been able to make his way to several programs in and close to the Lone Star State, including Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Texas, Houston and Baylor. After heading back out-of-state to Norman for the Sooners’ spring game, Jonah-Ajonye is slated to hit Oregon this weekend.

Florida State is another out-of-state team trending for a visit with several Seminoles coaches catching the eye of one of the nation’s best along the defensive line.

“Florida State is also trying to get me out other,” he said, likely for an official visit.

“Like Texas Tech and Oklahoma, I like the connection with the coaches over there,” Jonah-Ajonye continued. “It feels like family and I want to see it for myself. I like how they treat their players, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I want to see how they coach, what the campus is like, what the food they feed their players is like.”

Texas Tech, Oklahoma already set for June official visits

Jonah-Ajonye already has a pair of official visits squared in place for June — to Texas Tech and to Oklahoma.

The Red Raiders will get the No. 38 player in the On300 back in Lubbock on June 7-9 weekend. The Sooners were originally penciled in for June 16-18 weekend, will Jonah-Ajonye is rescheduling to ensure his mother can attend the trip.

On3 is higher on Jonah-Ajonye than the rest of the recruiting industry.
