BREAKING: Bear Alexander Commits to USC
Bear Alexander is one of the best available players in the NCAA transfer portal. He decided to leave Georgia after his freshman season and was instantly a highly-sought after player.
Alexander announced he would announce his transfer commitment on Sunday night. The list of finalists were Colorado, Miami, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, and USC. More than 15 schools originally reached out to Alexander, but USC was the only school he visited.
After 48 hours of high anticipation, especially from USC fans, Alexander announced his commitment t to the Trojans on Sunday.
Bear Alexander in 2022
In just one season in Athens, Alexander was able to find a role in the Bulldogs’ defensive line. He recorded 12 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss, and 2.0 sacks (one came against TCU in the national championship game).
Alexander played high school football at IMG Academy in Florida but is originally from Denton, TX. He was considered a four-star prospect. Alexander was the No. 43 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
As was widely reported, Alexander spent this past weekend in Los Angeles. He decided to head out west and visit with USC and head coach Lincoln Riley. Different photos were posted of the visit via social media. The photo below was shot at Riley’s home in the Palos Verdes Estates.
Vastly improved USC defensive line, front 7
USC’s front seven will be vastly improved regardless of who’s added, but a player of Alexander’s potential makes the offseason retooling of the USC defense appear to be a roaring success. During this offseason Shaun Nua’s added Alexander, Jack Sullivan, Anthony Lucas, Kyon Barrs and true freshman Sam Greene.
All but Greene are expected to start for the Trojans this season, but Greene’s expected to get significant reps.
