Packed recruiting intel: Updates on 9 NC State prospects

Priority NC State recruits from North Carolina and beyond gathered in Charlotte Saturday for the first day of Battle’s 7-on-7 national tournament. TheWolfpacker.com caught up with 9 prospects who shared updates on their respective recruitments.

Alex Taylor and Jordan Shipp talked about their official visit schedules, and Cedrick Bailey shared who is recruiting to join him in Raleigh.

‘24 three-star quarterback commit Cedrick Bailey

Bailey seems thrilled to be a Wolfpack commit. NC State’s coaching staff is doing a fantastic job communicating with the signal-caller, and he really appreciates that effort. He sounds locked in with the Wolfpack and is recruiting the 2024 class extremely hard. That effort includes reaching out to Taylor, Shipp, Jonathan Paylor and Terrell Anderson

‘24 five-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader

Bailey is also recruiting Joshisa Trader, the No. 6 receiver in the nation and his teammate at Chaminade-Madonna Prep. The quarterback is trying to get Trader to visit, but he already released a top-five schools list that includes Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State and Tennessee. After talking to the elite prospect, he does not plan on considering any programs outside of that group.

Trader said he does not mind, potentially, taking a trip to Raleigh, and he plans on committing in the late-fall. I would not be surprised if Bailey kept up his recruiting effort for the foreseeable future.

‘24 four-star wide receiver Alex Taylor

Quickly after Bailey arrived at the tournament, he dapped up Taylor, and it is clear the duo is establishing a solid bond after spending time together at the spring game. Having a quarterback in the class is important to the receiver as he continues through his decision-making process.

He set official visits to NC State, Clemson, North Carolina and Virginia Tech, and it sounds like his recruitment is starting to wind down. Taylor plans on announcing his decision in July, so his upcoming officials will be crucial.

Clemson impressed him again on his most recent visit this spring, and the Tigers could be tough to beat. UNC is definitely not out of the race either. NC State remains one of his top schools, and I still consider those two ACC rivals the main competition. It sounds like receivers coach Joker Phillips will stop by Grimsley High to evaluate Taylor and Anderson during the evaluation period.

‘24 four-star wide receiver Terrell Anderson

Terrell Anderson’s last trip to NC State went great, and he has locked in his return trip for June 16-18. That is his only set-in-stone official visit right now, but Tennessee, UNC and Michigan are a few other programs he could stop by in June. Right now, it sounds like he will take 5 officials.

During his next NC State visit, he wants to learn more about the university’s academics. Anderson plans on majoring in business. Keep an eye on the Wolverines if they make a push, and do not count out UNC, but the Pack is in a good spot going into the summer.

‘24 four-star wide receiver Jordan Shipp

Shipp recently stopped by Georgia for a spring visit, and he now plans on taking an official visit to Athens. The Bulldogs have not extended an offer yet, but it looks like that could change. I could see that changing his recruitment.

He will visit Virginia Tech, UNC, Michigan and NC State officially in June. The date is not completely set yet, but he is leaning towards spending the June 9-11 weekend in Raleigh with teammate and Pack commit Brody Barnhardt, who is recruiting the receiver. The Tar Heels and the Wolverines have had a lot of momentum here for a while, especially after Jadyn Davis’ commitment to Michigan, but the Pack remains a contender.

‘24 three-star wide receiver Trey Horne

Trey Horne is still considering an official trip to NC State, but he does not have any plans set in stone. Wake Forest, Florida, Florida State and others are still involved here. He was wearing an FSU shirt at the camp. His first trip to Raleigh went extremely well, and I still think NC State will be a top contender in his recruitment. Head coach Dave Doeren recently reached out personally, Horne said.

‘24 three-star wide receiver Keenan Jackson

Keenan Jackson plans on staying close to home for college, and I still think Virginia Tech, UNC and Duke are the main schools to watch. He said the Blue Devils are probably recruiting him harder than anyone, and he has frequently stopped by the campuses of both Virginia Tech and North Carolina. The Wolfpack is involved as well, and he said the program will most likely receive an official. He plans on releasing a top schools list,  likely a top 5, next month. NC State is in a good spot to make that cut. Jackson also spent time with Bailey during his visit for the spring game.

‘25 wide receiver Jerel Bolder

Jerel Bolder played against 15U competition Saturday and dominated. He recently picked up an offer from Michigan, and he told me South Carolina and NC State are the two schools showing the most love. The sophomore receiver did not visit Raleigh this spring but plans on camping this summer to learn more from Phillips. NC State offered Bolder at a camp last year.

‘25 wide receiver Arrion Concepcion

Arrion Concepcion seems very interested in continuing the family legacy at NC State, but there is a long way to go in his recruitment, so he is keeping his options open. The Chambers High receiver wore Wolfpack shorts to the tournament, and he clearly has a lot of love for the program. Seeing his brother carve out a role in the offense as a freshman helped as well.
