4-star WR Jordan Anderson on loyalty to Oregon, interest from other schools

4-star WR Jordan Anderson on loyalty to Oregon, interest from other schools

Newport Beach (Calif.) Newport Harbor four-star wide receiver Jordan Anderson announced his commitment to Oregon last December. That hasn’t stopped other schools from showing interest in Anderson though.

Anderson noted schools like Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and USC as a few programs who hears from the most outside of Oregon. However, Anderson remain loyally committed to the Ducks.

“They let me know that this is my class and I’m the headliner,” Anderson told BamaInsider’s Joseph Hastings at the Battle 7-on-7 Nationals in Charlotte. “I don’t want to go join another program I’m not the headliner of. It’s been fun recruiting guys and getting the guys we want at Oregon.”

“I love Coach Lanning. He’s a great coach who wants to win and is all about the players.”

Receiver coaches from two other Pac-12 programs have continued to make a push for Anderson. He hasn’t talked to USC’s Luke Huard in a few weeks now but noted that two do have a great relationship.

On his last trip to USC Anderson sat down with Huard and enjoyed the film they watched.

“He’s had some great receivers in the past and they did some great things in his offense,” Anderson said. “That’s an offense I always thought of seeing myself play in. I USC’s new offense too. It looks faster and more explosive.”

Brett Bartolone at Colorado is a coach Anderson has built a strong relationship with. Barolone has told Anderson that he’s a guy who can come to Boulder and make an immediate impact which is something Anderson admits is intriguing.

Deion Sanders leading the program also only helps the Buffaloes.

“I had Colorado in my top before Deion but with him being there, it got boosted for sure with the type of coach he is how he’s setting the program up,” Anderson said.

Jordan Anderson working on an official to Texas

If any school has a shot at flipping Anderson away from Oregon, it might be Texas.

Anderson’s visited Texas before and noted that the size of the stadium and campus life overall as two of the biggest positives for the Longhorns. He’s working on setting up an official back to Austin.

Potentially catching passes from Arch Manning in the future is an appealing allure Anderson admits on top of playing for guys like Steve Sarkisian and Chris Jackson.

“They have a lot of receivers going to the league next year so you always want to go into college with an opportunity to play early and that’s what I’m looking for,” Anderson said. “Texas has that there so I’m going to go check out the offense and see if it fits me.
