RUMBLINGS ON KANSAS STATE TARGET

While it has probably been more consistent and less dramatic beneath the surface, the recruitment of Kansas State transfer target Max Abmas of Oral Roberts has seen to have some dramatic shifts and turns.

At first, it was thought that it would be a race that would be tough for K-State to win. However, they fielded his first official visit of the process. Though it doesn’t have to be a sign of anything good or bad, he didn’t commit on that trip to Manhattan nor has he picked Kansas State at all.

Most leapt to conclusions and suggested that it was an indicator that K-State would not be his choice and that it likely meant that he was destined for Baylor. The last 48 hours, the chatter has shifted back in favor of Kansas State.

I have sensed confidence from the Wildcats for the duration of the pursuit of Abmas, but it seemed even bolder in the last couple days. On top of that, a source indicated a decision could happen soon and a popular Twitter account with clear inside intel on basketball transfers hinted that K-State could land someone in that same timeframe.

A lot of the pieces of the puzzle fit. With that being said, Jeff Goodman of Field of 68 has reported that Abmas and his family are again traveling from their Dallas home for another visit, and it is to see Texas. As I’ve stated numerous times, they are the program with the power to out-do Kansas State for Abmas.

I’ll have something for the folks in Manhappiness hopefully by the end of the week. https://t.co/FQdo1bayJS

NOTE ON TECH TRANSFER

After the transfer announcement of Anthony Thomas, K-State has four spots to fill. It would make sense for that to be composed of two guards, a wing and a buzz. But we have learned very little about non-guard targets in the portal.

Could Jaylon Tyson of Texas Tech be a consideration? After all, he was recruited by Kansas State assistant Ulric Maligi at Texas Tech the first time around. Tyson even initially followed him to Austin before returning to the Red Raiders.

Very little is known, but I did have one source hint that the Wildcats were keeping a close eye on it.

PERRY INCLUDES K-STATE

As we insisted for weeks, K-State is a threat for North Texas guard transfer Tylor Perry. After not making previous cuts, they did advance into his final four along with Florida, Texas Tech and Ole Miss. He has already visited Gainesville and will visit Chris Beard and the Rebels this weekend.

The expectation is also that a trip to Manhattan will begin soon after he finishes up in Oxford. He is linked to Kansas State through assistant Jareem Dowling. The K-State coach once worked in Denton and was an assistant under Grant McCasland, who has left to be the head coach at Texas Tech.

It is though that the Red Raiders are not a contender for Perry, though. That would leave the three favorites as Kansas State, the Gators and Ole Miss.

My sources have not budged. They believe he’s going to be wearing purple. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has shifted towards K-State as the No. 1 contender, and based on my information, I would agree with that notion.
