WATCH: Bentley cruises, Dart leads game-winning drive in high-scoring Ole Miss Grove Bowl
Ole Miss spring football isn’t over; the Rebels will practice twice more next week to get to their NCAA-allotted 15.
However, the Rebels, on Saturday, took to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the annual Grove Bowl all the same. Included are highlights from the full-team, game-like scrimmage.
Michael Nysewander, a senior analyst for Ole Miss football, served as the head coach of the Blue Team. He was opposed by Keynodo Hudson’s Red Team. Hudson is in his first season as Ole Miss cornerbacks coach. He replaced Sam Carter in the off-season.
The Red Team came out on top, 53-52, after Jaxson Dart, the second-year incumbent starter at quarterback, led a last-second, game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, capped by a successful two-point conversion. Dart found veteran receiver Jordan Watkins out of the backfield for the win.
Dart’s squad, on the drive, was aided by an iffy third-and-goal pass interference penalty called against Ladarius Tennison in the end zone. Tennison had tight coverage on Texas A&M wide receiver Chris Marshall, who Dart attempted to find near the back pylon on a rollout to his right with around 20 seconds to go.
Ole Miss reserve running back Fred McAfee went in for a touchdown plays later — one of two rushing scores for McAfee on the afternoon.

All three Ole Miss quarterbacks impressed, though Dart was again with the first team.
Oklahoma State transfer Spencer Sanders accounted for four all-purpose touchdowns. Perhaps more importantly, he didn’t show any throwing limitations after Sanders was limited for weeks in spring due to a shoulder injury.
Ulysses Bentley scored touchdowns both on the ground and through in the air to put a nice button on a productive and healthy spring for the one-time transfer from SMU. Bentley is currently the No. 2 option in the Ole Miss backfield behind second-year running back Quinshon Judkins. Judkins last season set the new single-season school record for rushing yards.
