Tidbits: SMU Basketball hosts another visitor

SMU Basketball continues to target transfer portal players to join the program. What’s the latest buzz around recruiting?

SMU hosted a trio of visitors before the Final Four, bringing in Temple guard Hysier Miller, Georgetown guard Denver Anglin and Butler guard Chuck Harris. All three are targets who sources remain confident in SMU’s chances to land.

We haven’t seen any more visits set for that trio as of now, which bodes well for the Mustangs. We’ll continue to keep our ear to the ground on developments with them. Anglin is a former four-star prospect who is regarded as one of the best, if not the best shooter, in the class of 2022. Miller and Harris are two veteran guards who would factor in right away into the backcourt rotation.

Iona big man Nelly Junior Joseph is set to officially visit SMU this weekend. He’s fresh off an official visit to New Mexico, but now it’ll be SMU’s time to host him. San Diego State is also jockeying for an official visit.

The 6-10, 240-pounder arrives in Dallas for his SMU official visit on Saturday after spending the last couple days with the Lobos.

He was named MAAC Rookie of the Year in 2020-21 when he averaged 11.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game over 18 contests. He’s now started 82-of-85 career games and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He has risen in points and rebounds per game each of the last three seasons. This year, he averaged 14.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while bringing over a block a game to the table.
