Coveted DB Christian Peterson down to eight schools
Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake 2024 safety Christian Peterson is in the middle of an important stretch in his recruitment.
It was time to narrow things down a bit. Peterson has cut his list from nearly 25 programs down to eight. Peterson, the No. 388 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings, is still considering Auburn, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, North Carolina, UCF, Louisville and Virginia Tech.
Peterson is in the middle of a long stretch of unofficial visits leading into a potential late spring or early summer commitment. He visited Texas A&M on March 25. Peterson visited Cincinnati over the weekend. The Bearcats didn’t make his top eight. He visited North Carolina on April 1.
Peterson has visits to multiple schools still to come. He will make his way to UCF on April 8. Peterson will visit Mississippi State on April 15 and then hit Louisville on April 21.
Christian Peterson breaks down his top eight
Auburn: That’s like home since I’m originally from Alabama. It’s not only that but coach (Hugh) Freeze is doing special things that way. I have a good relationship with coach (Zac) Etheridge and coach (Wesley) McGriff.”
Texas A&M: “Coach Jimbo (Fisher) is a competitor. He pushes the guys to be the best they can be each day which will only make them better. I have good relationships with coach (DJ) Durkin, and coach (Rohan) Gaines who have been keeping up with me through middle school.
North Carolina: “I have a good relationship with coach Mack Brown. He’s a legend and he’s doing good things up there in Chapel Hill. I have a good relationship with coach Charlton Warren. He has a great background. He’s coached some of the best. Playing early and the education that will help you, in the long run, comes into play.”
UCF: “I look at them like family because of the relationship I have with coach Addison (Williams). We’ve been locked in for a minute, and now that Deshon Lawrence is up there that’s even better. I have a good relationship with coach Gus (Malzahn). He’s doing some special things down there in Orlando.”
Multiple key relationships making big impact
Mississippi State: “I have a good relationship with coach (Brett) Dewhurst. He’s doing good things with the defensive backs up there.”
Louisville: “Coach (Ron) English loves me and thinks I would be a big piece in their secondary, and also the relationship I have with coach (Chris) Barclay.”
Virginia Tech: They’re in the top eight because of the relationship me and coach (Derek) Jones have built. He is hard on his defensive backs on a daily but that’s only going make them better in the long run.”
Georgia Tech: The things that coach Travares Tillman and coach Andrew Thacker are doing up there at Georgia Tech are great. Coach (Brent) key is doing special things up there and also they will prepare you for life after football.”
