Fast-rising 2025 TE Nate Roberts lands Miami Hurricanes offer, Oklahoma star looking to set up visit
Washington (Okla.) 2025 tight end Nate Roberts has turned into a hot commodity in his recruiting class, and Miami has hopped on the bandwagon.
Miami has become part of the group of schools that has helped the 6-foot-4, 225-pound unranked tight end’s stock skyrocket over the past weeks after the Hurricanes formally extended the offer. Roberts had always had interest in the Canes, but his offer marked his first contact with Miami’s coaching staff. He now has offers from more than a dozen programs including Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia and Notre Dame, among others.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Oklahoma as the narrow favorite ahead of Baylor.
“I got the opportunity to talk to (Stephen) Field, and the call went great,” Roberts said. “I got to learn a little bit about his past and what schools he was at before landing at Miami. He spoke very highly on my game and what I could bring to the Miami offense. I feel a connection already with coach Field, and I definitely want to visit Miami in the future.”
Field told Roberts he thinks he would fit perfectly in Miami’s offense, and his size, physicality and agility heavily stood out to the coaching staff. The Hurricanes immediately captured his interest.
“My overall interest is very high in the Canes,” Roberts said. “I am very interested in them.”
Roberts discussed a potential trip to Miami in late May or sometime during the summer. He’s also a baseball star who helped his team win a state championship in 2022.
“The first thing that sticks out to me about Miami is their history with their program,” Roberts said. “Their history with their TE use has been amazing. All of their coaches are top notch, so I am very excited about visiting and meeting all of the staff.”
Roberts has visits set for Baylor April 4, Georgia April 15, Clemson May 31, Notre Dame June 2 and Wisconsin June 3. He visited Penn State for the Nittany Lions’ junior day in late January.
CaneSport’s Take
Roberts’ stock is poised to continue to climb as his recruitment continues. He’s fresh off a 33-reception, 705-yard, 11-touchdown sophomore season in 2022, and his awareness and agility have helped him become a high school star. His soft hands, route running and physicality have made him a weapon in the passing game and as a run blocker, although he’ll need to continue to improve his speed during offseasons.
