Area 4-star RB impressed off Miami Hurricanes visit, sees team improvement and says “I have a completely different outlook”
After visiting the University of Miami for the first time, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star running back Jordan Lyle left Coral Gables with a great first impression of the Hurricanes and is excited with what head coach Mario Cristobal is building.
“To be honest, I’ve heard people talk bad about Miami and stuff like that, but now that I’ve come here, I have a completely different outlook,” Lyles told CaneSport. “Forget what other people are saying, this is a great program.”
Lyle, who is the No. 5 running back and No. 53 player overall according to the On300 2024 Rankings, spent the majority of Saturday on campus with his family and coaching staff as they toured the campus, spoke with multiple coaches, and more.
“Everything went great, and I enjoyed my time in Miami,” Lyle said. “It felt like paradise and it felt like home. It just feels great, and the coaches are great people to be around, and everyone has great energy, and everybody wants to work and get better.”
Following the visit, the 6-foot, 190-pound running back was walked out of the Hurricanes facilities by running back coach Tim Harris and offensive analyst Benedick Hyppolite, who have been leading his recruitment efforts.
“I’ve known coach Harris since he was at UCF, and he was always a great dude; the same thing with coach Hyppolite,” Lyles said. “They’re very excited and energetic people, and it was just an automatic click with them as soon as I saw them in person.”
Lyle sees the Hurricanes improving
While this was Lyle’s first visit to Miami, he did watch the Hurricanes’ spring game last season and was able to compare the group from last year to this year and noted significant progress all around.
“From this practice and the spring game last year, it’s like night and day,” Lyle said. “The offense is just that much better. The offensive line is that much better than last year, the receivers are great receivers, the running backs are looking good, and they also have two guys coming in that are astonishing playmakers too. Miami looks like it’s back on its tracks.”
Top programs chasing his signature
Lyle named Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, and Miami as programs he is particularly interested in and intends to include in his top ten schools, which he wants to reveal soon.
“I just want a school that can develop me and a place where I can do something for the school,” Lyles said. “I want to be developed and be the best player I can be.”
As far as where Miami stands, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Hurricanes are the slight favorites to land Lyle’s services with a 27.1% probability, just edging out Penn State, who sit at 23.7%.
CaneSport’s take
The South Florida native had an outstanding junior season, rushing for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns to help St. Thomas win their fourth consecutive state championship. Moving forward, Lyle would want to see Miami improve on their record from last year and continue to strengthen their connection, which he feels would provide them a good chance of securing his commitment down the road.
“To be honest, a winning season would help,” Lyles said. “But that relationship and them just keep building that relationship. They’ve done a great job with their first impression and establishing themselves.”
