Boogie Huntley talks keys to Saturday

South Carolina football’s Boogie Huntley remembers how last year’s game against the Florida Gators played out in the Swamp.

In 2023, it’s not about “revenge”, Huntley said. It is about understanding what has to be done to avoid a repeat poor performance

“No need to dwell on the past,’ Huntley said during an appearance on the Garnet Trust Hour on 107.5 The Game this week. “With that being said, I’ll also say that It is one of those things that, last year was something we can’t let happen again.”

South Carolina was shut out offensively – the lone score came on a special teams touchdown – and the defense surrendered 38 points and 374 rushing yards.

“We hated the feeling we had and so when it comes to losses like that, the only thing you should remember is how you felt after that game,” Huntley said. “That horrible feeling you have deep down inside, those are the things you remember. I feel like everybody kind of put the good and the bad of last year away. It’s a whole new year.”

The Gators, the junior defensive tackle said, have depth on the offensive line and a pair of really good backs that punished South Carolina football last season on the ground.

The focus this week in preparation for the Gators seems to be playing sound, assignment football.

“They’re a good team, but I also think that if we read our keys, fit our gaps, just play well, it’s gonna be a good game,” said Huntley. “I say if we do this we’ll win the game: if everybody does their job on that specific play.”

What does doing the job against the Gators entail?

“No MAs (missed assignments), no falling out of a gap. Just, technique is on point. If we do that, we’ll win the game. I have no if, and, or but about that in my head. If we do our job, each individual person,
