Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the next opponent on the Penn State schedule. A point spread and betting total are now out for Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. meeting between the Nittany Lions and UMass. Circa Sports opened the home team as a 39-point favorite with a projected total of 50.5. That would make head coach James Franklin’s team a projected 40-10 winner. The line was up to 42 and the total 57.5 at FanDuel on Monday morning. The Minutemen are coming off of a loss to Toledo by double digits and are now 1-6 on the year.

Big Ten Network will televise the contest. The broadcast crew will be revealed this week.

In other news, Penn State picked up a new commitment over the weekend. Ramsey, N.J., two-way defensive lineman Logan Bahn picked the Lions. He received the PWO opportunity back in September. Bahn had offers from Colgate, Georgetown, Bucknell, and Cornell, among others.

After an amazing visit to #PennState yesterday and a phone call with @coachjfranklin today, I’m excited to announce that I am % committed to @PennStateFball! Big thanks also to @CoachTrautFB @CoachAhmadPSU! Can’t wait to get to work! #WeAre pic.twitter.com/9EmYEtPKOo

Quote of the day

“What we’re trying to do is trying to get our guys to play at as high level as possible. And just be better than what they were. Our responsibility here is just to develop these guys to be the best version of themselves they can be. I know any coach would say that, but it’s still the truth because the better we play here, I have a feeling the more the NFL is going to like them.

“Right now, I just like the idea that we have a lot of guys who, by every metric, are playing the best football in their career. And they’ve got to keep it up because of the challenges we have ahead.”

–PSU defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.
