Packed recruiting intel: 3 4-star wide receiver prospects lock in NC State official visits

NC State hosted most of its top wide receiver prospects over the past couple of weeks, building some needed momentum amongst that position group in the 2024 class. Based on intel from a couple of those recruits, it sounds like a trio of four-star, in-state pass catchers will all take their Wolfpack official visits together.

Alex Taylor and Jonathan Paylor will visit NC State the weekend of June 16, they both shared with TheWolfpacker.com Monday morning. The elite receivers are priority prospects for NC State and, after going through spring with no official plans set in stone, it is an extremely positive sign that they will be on campus together.

Terrell Anderson, a four-star receiver who stopped by Raleigh unofficially March 31, will join them, according to Taylor— Anderson’s teammate at Grimsley High.

This trio will be on campus in the middle of what will likely be a packed June visit schedule for all three recruits. Taylor previously confirmed that will also visit UNC June 22 and Clemson June 2.

With that said, based on what I have heard recently, it sounds like things might be starting to shift in Taylor’s recruitment. There has been a ton of buzz around Clemson in recent months, especially after spending an entire day with the Tigers in January.

I still consider Clemson the leader in his recruitment, but the receiver has not made up his mind, and the Pack remains a strong contender.

He plans on returning to Raleigh once again for the spring game. Wolfpack commits Asaad Brown II and Cedrick Bailey Jr. will both be on campus, and this is a huge opportunity for the program to make a meaningful push going into the summer.

NC State holds one advantage right now in Taylor’s recruitment— a committed quarterback. Neither Clemson or UNC have added a signal-caller to their respective classes, which should help the Wolfpack’s case.

Anderson keeps his recruitment pretty close to the chest, but all of his NC State visits have gone really well, he has a great bond with wide receivers coach Joker Phillips and I think the program will remain a strong contender up to his decision. I heard from multiple sources that his trip went great.

Paylor’s recruitment is still a bit difficult to read, but he has previously said that NC State is right there at the top with South Carolina. The Gamecocks have the edge but, if he arrives in Raleigh for his official visit uncommitted, this could be a super close recruiting battle until the end.

Making it through the first couple weekends of June will obviously be critical. All three prospects will likely take official visits elsewhere during that time, and NC State will need to maintain enough positive momentum over the next couple of months to keep them uncommitted going into June 16. If all three receivers make it to that visit day, I will feel good about the Wolfpack’s chances going into their decisions.
