CJ Jackson schedules two visits after decommitting from Georgia Tech

After being committed to Georgia Tech for three and a half months, CJ Jackson reopened his recruitment last week. The four-star EDGE out of Tucker (Ga.) is taking a step back, exploring his options and he plans to take his time with this decision.

“Things are completely wide open,” Jackson told On3. “I want to make my decision by the middle of December, but if I know where I want to go before then, I will commit.”

Georgia Tech, the local school for the 6-foot-3.5, 220-pound senior, is not completely out of the mix, but as Jackson starts his recruitment up again, a small group of schools are on his radar.

“I am going to hear everyone out, but the schools in mind now are LSU, Colorado, Alabama, UCF and Auburn.”

After Jackson committed to the Yellow Jackets, Colorado and LSU stayed with him. He took an official visit to Baton Rouge in June and he plans to be back next weekend for the Auburn game. Later this month, Jackson has a visit with UCF scheduled when the Knights host West Virginia.

He is working to lock in dates to Tuscaloosa and Boulder as well.

The No. 181 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings is not sure about official visits because his focus is on the season, but he knows what he is looking for in a school.

“The main things are winning, my development, and getting to the next level. The league is my ultimate goal, so that is important.”

On3 Scouting Report

Active speed rusher who creates constant disruption due to his quickness and hair-on-fire effort level. Measured in at over 6-foot-3, around 220 pounds prior to his senior season. Has good length for the position, with arms that measure 33.75 inches. Has notable play speed. Shows high-level quickness, firing off the snap. Redirects quickly with lateral movements. Capable of winning with pure speed, but also shows the ability to hit offensive tackles with up and under and hesitation moves. Shows outstanding speed in pursuit. Closes very quickly. Plays with a high effort level. Plays with a willing level of physicality and throws his body around as a run defender, despite being lighter. Will need to add mass to aid in anchoring against the run. Has solid size but is not as overly imposing as some other blue-chip EDGE prospects.
