What Texas players said after the No. 3 Longhorns’ 34-30 loss to No. 12 OU

Here’s what the players said after one of the wilder Texas-OU games in recent memory.

Quinn Ewers, QB

ON THE OVERALL GAME AND OUTCOME:

“Didn’t start out how I wanted to. It’s always tough when on the first two drives you throw two interceptions. I’m glad the way we bounced back. They started throwing some different looks at us to try to confuse is. Proud of the way we stayed in the fight.”

WHAT WAS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS OKLAHOMA DEFENSE AND DID IT SURPRISE YOU WITH THE REMARKABLE IMPROVEMENT FROM LAST YEAR?

“Yeah, I mean each team, each year is gonna be different, obviously. I think this year they got a lot more confidence in themselves. You know, they had some some guys back that weren’t able to play last year. It’s hard to look back on last year. You know what we’re focused on this year. But yeah, I mean, they were better defensively than last year.”

Jaylan Ford, LB

ON THE DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE:

“After the field goal, I was telling the guys, ‘Let’s go get a stop,’ so I think my mentality was trying to make a play. For them to see them get the touchdown, I was out there every snap… I was analyzing what I could I have done myself?”

ON HIS POSTGAME REFLECTIONS:

“After seeing that (OU) did get a touchdown, I think for me after the game is just kind of, I was out there. I played every snap of the game so for me, just analyzing what I could have done myself, you know, to go out there and contribute to help us change the tide. All I can do now is just look back. Get better and work with the rest of my guys.”

Jahdae Barron, DB

ON MENTALITY AFTER BERT AUBURN’S FIELD GOAL TO GIVE TEXAS THE LEAD LATE, 30-27:

“I thought ‘this is the moment you live for.’ Coach Sark hits on two-minute drill all the time. He put us in position for this time right here and we just didn’t execute when we were supposed to.”
