Oklahoma CB Gentry Williams taken to locker room with injury

Oklahoma cornerback Gentry Williams was taken to the locker room with an injury in the fourth quarter against Texas.

ESPN’s Holly Rowe reported Williams was taken off the sideline and inside to get checked out. Immediately after, Texas tied things up with the Sooners 27-27 with 6:10 remaining.

The injury was unclear at the time.

“Major injury news, Gentry Williams, the starting cornerback for the Sooners, has been taken to the locker room,” Rowe said on the broadcast. “Kendel Bolby is in, No. 15. Keep your eye on the secondary.”

Williams picked off Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers on the opening drive of the game.

Coming into the game, Williams had 14 total tackles, nine solo tackles, four tackles for loss and two interceptions.

As a member of the Class of 2022, Williams was a four-star recruit out of Tulsa (Okla.) Booker T. Washington, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 1 overall prospect in the state, the No. 9 cornerback in the class and the No. 78 overall prospect in the class.
