On300 4-star OT Manasse Itete to take Miami official visit, continuing to ponder summer dates
Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic 2024 offensive tackle Manasse Itete was impressed on his visit to Miami for the team’s opening spring scrimmage, and he’s planning on taking an official visit this summer as a result.
Itete, the No. 95 overall prospect in the On300, will visit Miami and Florida State this summer, and the Hurricanes gave him a list of dates to consider during his unofficial visit to Coral Gables. He’s considering dates after the Hurricanes impressed him on his trip to south Florida.
“It was a great experience to see the coaches, the way they teach,” Itete said. “The way they teach guys how to play. The way they take care of guys is something special and different from other schools, and it’s a great (academic) school. I think they’ll do much better than last year, I believe. They’re great people. They really take care of people here.”
Itete spent time with Miami freshman defensive lineman Collins Acheampong, a friend Itete has kept in touch with for some time who has a similar story to Itete. Both are originally from Africa and blossomed into football stars and talk regularly. Acheampong had high praise for Miami’s staff, which rubbed off well on Itete.
“It’s a great place,” Itete said. “I talked to (head) coach (Mario) Cristobal, (analyst Edwin) Pata, coach Alex (Mirabal), I talked to a lot of coaches. (They said) it’s a great place, they just need a chance to show how they do things. And I know they will do great things.”
The staff continued to push a message of player development and building a players-first program, which Itete values significantly, before giving Itete a list of dates he can take his official visit. He said he will release his dates for his official visits “soon” after figuring out his schedule.
He only plans on taking three official visits but knows Miami and Florida State will receive two of them.
CaneSport’s Take
Miami took exactly the step it needed to by getting Itete to think along the lines of official visits, which the Canes also did with three-star Clearwater (Fla.) Cavalry Christian offensive lineman Joseph Ionata, who Miami sees as a future center.
Both will now take official visits to Miami this summer and both hold the Hurricanes in extremely high regard. Cristobal and Mirabal have made a big impression on both prospects and likely won’t slow down anytime soon. Remember, the staff wowed four-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker, the No. 25 prospect in the On300, a few weeks ago.
And we still have another recruiting weekend left that overlaps with spring practices, not to mention the spring game April 14.
