Local 4-star RB to make second Miami game day visit this weekend

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star running back Byron Louis has quickly become a hot recruiting target in the 2025 recruiting class, and this weekend, Miami hopes to get a leg up on its competition when it hosts the top-300 prospect for a seventh visit.

Louis, the No. 208 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 18 running back, last visited Miami for the Hurricanes’ Sept. 9 win over then-No. 23 Texas A&M and plans to be in attendance Saturday for Miami’s game against Georgia Tech. Louis has closely watched Miami freshman running back Mark Fletcher, a fellow American Heritage product and friend, and wants to support his home team.

“I just want to see how the guys who graduated from Heritage are doing over there,” Louis said. “And they have one of the best offensive lines in college football and some young (offensive linemen), so by the time I come in they’re going to be NFL-ready, so it’s important to make sure I go down there.”

Louis says he remains “extremely interested” in the Hurricanes and thinks Miami could have one of the country’s best rushing attacks in the upcoming years. He wants to see Miami run the ball effectively against Georgia Tech Saturday and build on its undefeated start to the season, which he’s been thoroughly impressed by.

“I think Miami’s off to a great start,” Louis said. “Coming off of last season, they started off pretty hot and I expect them to keep it going. Especially with (head coach Mario) Cristobal and the new coaches that they have, I expect them to keep it going.”

Louis has also maintained a strong relationship with Fletcher, who he talks to weekly for advice and views “like my big brother.” He said the two talk before every game. Louis added he’s excited to see Miami unveil its all-black uniforms and attend his first night college game. He said Miami hosted him for his first college game years ago, and he liked the concept of attending another Hurricanes’ home game for his first night game.

Miami is the only school to host Louis for a game-day visit so far this fall, although he plans to announce several more game-day visits in the coming weeks. He chose not to disclose the other schools he plans to visit this season, although WeAreSC recently reported USC expects to host him this season.

CaneSport’s Take

Louis is part of what we expect to be a deep 2025 running back class for South Florida, which includes his teammate, top-100 prospect Deandre Desinor. We like where Miami sits with him at the moment.
