Ball with The Beast: A trip around the SEC

A full slate of conference games headline the SEC going into week six in the Ball with The Beast podcast presented by Wyatt Insurance. Tennessee may be on a bye week but that doesn’t mean the SEC takes a break.

Arkansas has lost three games in a row with a trip to Ole Miss this weekend and Alabama next weekend. It’s a pivotal time for the Razorbacks while Ole Miss got a huge win over LSU last weekend.

“KJ Jefferson has done a lot for that program but what we are seeing is a ceiling for KJ Jefferson in my opinion,” Paul Fortenberry said. “He is who he is. I don’t know that he can go out and beat top 25 teams consistently. Can he rip off a couple of big runs? Yes but can he consistently go down the field and creat drives against defenses that are good? I don’t know if we have seen that.”

Kentucky makes the trip to Athens to take on Georgia and the Wildcats are undefeated. This will be the biggest test for Kentucky to this point. The Bulldogs have dominated the cats since Kirby Smart has arrived and they will look to continue that.

“At some point, Georgia has to turn Carson Beck loose for four quarters,” Brent Hubbs said. “Maybe this is the loss of (Todd) Monken standing up to Kirby Smart saying we have to do this. Their play calling with Stetson Bennett was certainly more aggressive. Their play calling doesn’t get aggressive until they get in trouble.”

The game of the week in the league is Alabama going to College Station to play Texas A&M. It’s a game they lost the last time they went to play the Aggies on the road.

“Which A&M shows up on defense?” Fortenberry said. “(Jalen) Milroe just isn’t special. He will give you a turnover or two. Max Johnson and the A&M offense have to take advantage of that.

“If they can force the ball in Milroe’s hand and force him to make plays the way Texas did then he has the opportunity to lose that game for them.”
