A look at Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Colin Simmons on his visit at Texas A&M

A look at Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Colin Simmons on his visit at Texas A&M

Duncanville (Texas) Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Colin Simmons is in College Station this weekend on an unofficial visit to Texas A&M. The elite defender took in practice, was able to spend time with coaches, and got in a great looking photo shoot.

Simmons went to social media to post some photos and videos of his day in College Station. One Instagram Story post was a video of Simmons donning the Aggies uniforms with a custom facemask.

You can see that video in my tweet below.

Simmons still has multiple visits in the coming weeks. Along with Texas A&M this weekend, Lone Star State native will visit USC on April 8, Florida on April 13 and Oregon on April 29. While Simmons had already revealed his trips to the Aggies and Gators, visits to the Ducks and Trojans are newly scheduled.

“Honestly, they’re real big because they’re not anywhere near my house,” Simmons previously told On3 about his spring visits. “Going on campus to those schools, I just want to see if I can stay there for the next three-to-four years, see if I’ll actually have fun and enjoy myself out there rather than not feel the school. I want to feel comfortable.

Simmons has visited Arizona State (March 18) and Texas (March 25) this month. He also saw Georgia (Jan. 14) and TCU (Jan. 29) in January.

The On3 visit center has Simmons as visiting Texas A&M one time prior, the visit coming in January of 2022. The Aggies have the track record of recruiting elite defensive lineman and Simmons fits that to perfection.

On3 Scouting Summary on Simmons

Long-limbed EDGE prospect who stars for one of the top high school programs in Texas. Measured at around 6-foot-2.5, 225 pounds with a 34-inch arm prior to his junior season. Grew around an inch as a sophomore. Primarily lines up at defensive end for Duncanville. Uses first-step quickness, play speed and dip to create issues for opposing offensive tackles. Shows good curvilinear movement with his ability to turn corners as a pass rusher. Length aids in disengaging from offensive linemen, finishing plays and disrupting passing lanes. Looks to play with a good effort level. Plays against top competition and made an impact on a defensive front that featured older, Power 5 prospects.

On3 Prospect Comparison – Von Miller

Colin Simmon’s physical tools and prolific pass rush skills remind us of fellow south Dallas product Von Miller. Like Miller, Simmons is a dominant high school pass rusher with rare first-step quickness, bend and effort in pursuit. Both were around the same size at the same stage.
