2024 linebacker target sets Notre Dame visit for Blue-Gold Game weekend

Five days after reporting a Fighting Irish football offer, Chris Cole has scheduled his second unofficial college recruiting visit to Notre Dame. The 2024 linebacker from Salem (Va.) High will make the trip to South Bend from April 21-22, he told Blue & Gold.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Cole first visited Notre Dame to participate in a high school football camp on June 23. Almost eight months later, the Irish offered him a scholarship, making him the 32nd linebacker — as designated by On3 — to report an Irish offer this recruiting cycle.
“I didn’t get a chance to experience ND in detail last time I was there,” Cole told Blue & Gold. “Now that they have offered, it’s time to seriously explore ND on a deeper level: the facilities, staff, academics, community etc.”
Over the last six weeks, Cole has recently caught steam on the recruiting trail, reporting offers from Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Penn State, Maryland, Miami (Fla.) and Texas A&M. In total, the three-star recruit reports offers from 13 Power Five programs.
On3 ranks Cole as the No. 124 linebacker and No. 27 player in Virginia.
The On3 Industry ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — evaluates Cole as the No. 831 overall player, No. 87 linebacker and No. 30 player in Virginia.
So far, Cole has given the most attention to regional schools by visiting Virginia Tech (8), Duke (3), Virginia (2), Maryland (2), West Virginia (2) and Wake Forest (2) a combined 21 times.
He has also visited Penn State, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, North Carolina and James Madison. Cole has not reported offers from Wake Forest, North Carolina and James Madison. Miami (Fla.), who offered on Feb. 20, will host him on April 2.
Blue-Gold Game is shaping up to be a big Notre Dame recruiting weekend
The annual Blue-Gold Game intrasquad scrimmage at Notre Dame Stadium will be a busy weekend for the program’s recruiting efforts.
Blue & Gold has confirmed that nine recruiting targets between the 2024 and 2025 classes will be in South Bend on April 22 for the spring practice game.
Notre Dame expects to host the following 2024 recruits: Huff, safety Davis Andrews, offensive tackle Guerby Lambert and EDGE Mylachi Williams. In 2025, the Irish will welcome wide receivers Jerome Bettis Jr. and Taz Williams Jr., defensive lineman Davion Dixon and linebackers Anthony Sacca and Kelvion Riggins.
Defensive line commit Owen Wafle and cornerback commit Leonard Moore will also be on campus that day.
The Irish are still seeking their first linebacker commit in 2024. Later this month, Notre Dame expects to host linebacker targets Payton Pierce and Brian Huff on campus. The Irish have already welcomed linebackers Bodie Kahoun and Cole Sullivan over the last three weeks.
