The Missouri City, Texas native produced career highs with 10 receptions and 141 yards and had one touchdown in the win over the Jayhawks. His 10 receptions included four catches of at least 17 yards and were the most for a Longhorn since Xavier Worthy had 15 against Kansas in 2021. On UT’s first scoring march of the game, Mitchell hauled in three consecutive passes for 49 yards to set up a Quinn Ewers 30-yard touchdown score.
Mitchell graded 79.8% during his game versus KU, adding to his season totals of 321 yards receiving and four touchdown catches on 23 catches in 2023. He’s averaging 14.6 yards per catch for the Longhorns.
The Georgia transfer joined the Texas football program in January after entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. The Houston area product wanted to be closer to home and his daughter. And it looks like he’s found a home on the Forty Acres.
The Longhorns will face No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, October 7th in the Allstate Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. and the game will broadcast live on ABC.
