Miami setting sights on teammate of 5-star DL commit

Landing Miami (Fla.) Central Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Armondo Blount in mid-September was a splash commitment for the Hurricanes, but Miami has set its sights on one of his teammates, a four-star interior defensive lineman.

Miami’s staff has gone hard after Randy Adirika, the No. 276 overall 2025 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and a top-30 defensive lineman in his class, since the start of August. Adirika has heard from Miami co-defensive line coach Joe Salave’a “almost every day” over the last two months and attended the Hurricanes’ 48-33 win over No. 23 Texas A&M Sept. 9, less than a week before Blount committed.

Adirika said Blount has joked with him that he’s going to be Miami’s next 2025 commit, and while the 6-foot-5, 248-pound prospect is taking his recruitment slow, he hasn’t shot down the idea.

“We talked about (Blount’s commitment), and he told me that I’m next,” Adirika said. “…I mean, I think it’d be cool, going to The U. I know a lot of people on their team (like Central alums Rueben Bain and Wesley Bissainthe), and it would just be like home I think.”

Miami and Florida State have stood out to Adirika early, and he said Florida State is making an aggressive recruiting effort to get him to Tallahassee. He plans to attend this year’s Miami-Florida State game as a Florida State recruit.

Adirika said he feels both Miami and Florida State are capable of competing for championships this season and has been encouraged by the two teams’ respective undefeated starts. He plans to return to Miami for another visit after the season ends.

Adirika also wants to take game day visits to Louisville and Cincinnati this fall but is still working to finalize his schedule.

Adirika has taken a massive step forward as a defensive tackle this season and has become a truly dominant defensive lineman for Central. We were encouraged by his performance in Central’s nationally-televised game against fellow powerhouse Chaminade-Madonna Sept. 21, and he and Blount firmly dominated the line of scrimmage when lined up on the same side. Adirika has undoubtedly taken a step forward this season, and we expect fellow Power Five schools to show more interest as he receives more playing time. But, like with several other prospects Miami and Florida State are battling for, it’s starting to look like this year’s Miami-Florida State game could have plenty of impact on recruiting.
