Tony Cumberland Details Early Commitment, Plans to Reclassify

Oregon got its first 2026 pledge this week – and he’s elite.

Tony Cumberland of Desert Mountain High in Scottsdale (Ariz.) Is a 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman ranked as the nation’s No. 22 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking – and even higher by 247Sports at No. 11. Cumberland made the early commitment over the weekend after an unofficial visit for the Oregon-Colorado game.

He explained his decision to ScoopDuck and detailed what happens next.

“I think I’m going back (to Eugene) for the USC game,” he said.

Impressions of Oregon

“Oregon is a great place for talented players to develop and reach their full potential.”

What stood out?

“The first time I went there I fell in love. It’s like my second home.”

Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi

“They both have amazing backgrounds when it comes to getting people to the NFL. And that’s the play right now.”

Accelerated arrival

“The plan is to reclassify into the 2025 class.”

Best memories

“It was definitely the family feeling I had with everyone up there. Just getting to meet the players was my favorite part about the visit.”

Sophomore goals

“I want to lead my team to a state championship. That’s the only goal that matters right now.”
